Caerhays Castle
Grade II listed woodland, secluded beaches, a sheltered valley and extraordinary gardens full of rare plants: Caerhays Castle on Cornwall's south coast is a singular and beautiful place to spend a holiday.
Caerhays Castle
1979's TV adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's 'Rebecca' was filmed here, and the book's 'Manderley' is actually a private house called 'Menabilly', a little way up the valley from the cove. Cornwall hosts an extremely popular Du Maurier Festival every year in the middle of May. We have a variety of luxurious and very different properties within the grounds. The gardens are the result of the generations of hard work and expertise of the Williams family, who helped fund some of the original plant-hunters' expeditions. They still own Caerhays; the fruits of the family's continuing dedication can be seen today. The gardens overlook Porthluney Cove, half way between Truro and St Austell. The privately-owned beaches are a fantastic throwback to the kind of place you might remember: wide sands, a simple shop selling ice creams and beach toys, not a speed boat or jet ski in sight - they're banned, all year round. There's ample parking, safe waters and
starting points for some lovely clifftop walks, too...
