Porthleven falls within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ensuring that it is unspoilt by tourism. The harbour was constructed during the Napoleonic era accounting for its grandeur. This fishing harbour is where the majority of the local cafes, restaurants and the award winning Quayside fishmongers source their fresh fish. Whether you are interested in taking boat trips around the harbour, fishing or kayaking, all facilities are available here. Separating the harbour and the beach is a granite pier- the perfect spot to try fishing for yourselves! The beach is three miles long spanning to Loe Bar and Gunwalloe Fishing Cove- the Cornish Coastal Path allows you to walk between beaches. The surrounding cliffs ensure that the beach is sheltered from the tumultuous winds allowing you and your family a protected site for rock pooling or surfing. In peak season, the waves can reach up to 15 feet providing the ideal spot for advanced surfers.
Our Porthleven holiday cottages are ideally located to make all the town’s facilities just a short stroll away. Spend a day exploring the local shops, hunting for arts, crafts and other Cornish delights; take a boat trip from the harbour and marvel at the rugged coastline, or head to a local eatery to enjoy locally caught seafood brought fresh from the harbour that day. If you want, you can even just sit on the patio with friends and enjoy the shimmering sunbeams bouncing off the surf.
