Combine the California dream with a sultry staycation oozing Hollywood glamour and ultimate privacy. Pack your gladrags, pour a pina colada at the bar or pop prosecco on the terrace and settle into hillside luxury.

California dreaming

Behind the high, gated ragstone wall lies another world entirely. Steep on the hillside of Hythe on Kent’s coast is The Palms. Once in the grounds and up the stone steps you’ll be forgiven for forgetting where you are or how you got here. This sprawling three bedroom home is all on one level. From the deep sofas and large pouffe to the funky purple wood burner in the sitting room you’ll get a hint of the glamorous theme at play throughout. Tear your gaze from the sliding terrace doors, and the multi-tiered terrace beyond. On the ceiling you’ll find the television that lowers to viewing height when movie night begins. The kitchen with its wraparound breakfast bench is a social space drawing one and all for a buffet breakfast or pre-dinner cocktail to keep the evening’s chef company. The adjacent dining area comfortably sits all six guests with plentiful room for an impressive spread.

Step out onto the terrace from one of five sets of doors. A vast, tiered space with decking, formal gardens, artificial grass, sun loungers, sofas, a bar and a full size outdoor dining table, this is a home designed to encourage outdoor living in sumptuous style. As the sunsets on the day, spark up the fairy lights around the bar and shake up some cocktails or pop the cork on your favourite fizz. Serve lunch or dinner alfresco and while away the hours beneath the real palm trees in the garden.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The master suite benefits from a super king size bed and a dressing area. Its en suite has a bath and a large walk in drench shower.  The second and third bedrooms have their own en suite shower room and sliding doors onto the patio, whether you’re breathing in the early morning air or popping inside to change.

Please note:  Due to the steep stone steps to access the property from the street and that the garden area is terraced on 2 levels, this property is not suitable for people with any mobility problems.

The property was excellent, in immaculate condition with everything you could need. The local area is very pretty with a lovely canal to walk along and have boat trips on and a quaint high street. Easy driving distance to Folkestone, Dover and many beaches.

Mrs Alison D,

Beautiful home with lovely hosts, would recommend this property and would love to visit again.

Mrs Jeanette P,

The owner was very welcoming and left a very good welcome pack. The house was very well presented and comfortable the owner has created an excellent holiday home which I would definitely go to in the future. The garden was well laid out and had plenty of outdoor seating laid out over the 2 terraces. Well Located for food shopping and the town of Hythe which is a gem on the Kent coast

Mr Michael B,
