Description

Make serenity yours. Snuggle up in front of the welcoming log fire. Soak deeply in the scent of lavender. And then dream sweetly.

Dorset dreams

English charm at its very best awaits you behind the lightest of eggshell-blue front doors. You’ll have already gasped at the picture-perfect thatched roof with neat lattice windows tucked under the eaves. Step inside and it’s the wonder of space that strikes you first. In pristine white with beams to match and pine and floral accents throughout, this country cottage offers all the modern comforts you’re looking for amidst the occasional reminder that it dates right back to the 17th-century. Did you see that cutest of brick nooks near to the mantelpiece?

And then you notice all those comfy spots just waiting to be claimed by you. Will it be on the lush sofa in front of the glorious log fire? The comfy settee handily part of the kitchen so you can relax while you wait for the Aga to do its magic? In that deliciously-deep tub? Or perhaps nestled in down under the eaves? And did we mention that it’s underfloor heating throughout.

And when it’s up-time, there’s the quintessentially English garden with more than enough play equipment to amuse the children. Venture outside and the delights of Dorset are on your doorstep. Come evening you might want to visit the village pub, handily located just a short walk away. Or better still, discover the cottage secret – its very own quirky BBQ hut whose hexagonal walls house comfy seating around a BBQ pit where you can grill to perfection and al fresco whatever the weather. Wherever you are, make it about the serenity. And yours.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

This Dorset cottage comes with four spacious bedrooms sleeping eight more than dreamily. The large master has French doors and a balcony overlooking the garden. Two bedrooms have en suites and there’s a family bathroom too where you’ll find that deliciously deep tub.

Reviews

Amazing stay at this beautiful cottage. The facilities are fantastic, location is perfect! We go away yearly as a girls group with our children and this has been the best accommodation by far! The facilities they have for children are amazing! Plenty of space inside and out. Host is very responsive to any additional requests. Can’t recommend this cottage enough!

Miss E,

Enjoyable cottage to stay in with family. There were six adults and one child in our group and we had plenty of room and privacy when needed.

Mrs L,

Eight of us stayed for our friends 50th birthday, we had a wonderful stay lots of room the property had all we needed to cook and the beds were very comfortable

Ms H,

Dulcima Cottage was a warm and welcoming place to arrive to on a damp and gloomy Saturday in the week before Christmas. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, particularly the beds. The kitchen is well provided for (especially if you are doing 'real' self-catering), and the welcome treats of chocolate biscuits, four pints of milk (not the usual token one or two pints), and bottle of prosecco were a nice surprise. Since we were close to Christmas, it was nice to see a lit Christmas tree and some decorations making the cottage even more homely. The garden is large with many facilities, and if you have small children there is a slide, climbing frame and swings to keep them entertained. The only down side is that after driving into the property's entrance, the only realistic way to exit is to reverse onto a busy road, which is closer to the front of the property than the photo suggests. However, since the main cottage entrance is at the rear within the enclosed garden, there is no real issue for people on foot. Overall this is a good location for visiting many parts of Dorset, or just for local walks to the many nature reserves and open spaces.

Dr G,

A beautiful property with everything you could need for a perfect family holiday.

Mrs D,

We loved our weeks stay here, the kids (3 & 1) really enjoyed exploring the garden, and the house was lovely to come back to after wet and/or windy walks. It was super relaxing to stay somewhere that was so child friendly. Kitchen was well stocked, everywhere was clean, we all really appreciated the welcome pack too ☺️

Mrs T,

From the moment we arrived we were smitten with Dulcima Cottage. The decor was lovely. The rooms spacious and attractive. Facilities best we have ever had and lovely touches like washing tablets and plenty of toilet rolls and the welcome pack was much appreciated.
