A beautiful place! Fabulous location - serene, unsprung and delightful with amazing views. Only had a week - highlights included Maiden Castle walk, Portland Harbour boat trip and Durdle Door walk. Hope to come back, thank you
We were lucky to find this cottage at such short notice. A thoroughly enjoyable stay, which even a couple of minor plumbing issues couldn't dampen. Perfect place to explore the Jurassic Coast and close to a great pub in the village. Would love to come back in the winter to find some fossils!
Absolutely loved this beautiful cottage. It was very comfortable and well equipped. Lots of thought has clearly gone into what is here and who might stay. We have a toddler and found it brilliant for him! The surrounding area is stunning! We enjoyed local walks, trips to Abbotsbury, Portland Bill and West Bay. We enjoyed the subtropical gardens and Sea Life centre but the views and sunsets here are amazing! We loved the beer fridge and beautiful cottage.
Views views views! What an amazing place to stay! Stunning views, so much history - loved reading your facts about the coastguard cottages and the building work and renovations that took place to achieve such a lovely property! We enjoyed some lovely coastal path walks to the manor and Rodden Hive. Thank you for such a wonderful home and the lovely welcome tray of goodies!
We've had a great week in your beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated cottage. We particularly loved the terrace and the sunning sunsets. We've had some lovely days out - to Chesil Beach at West Bexington; Weymouth; Lulworth cove & Durdle Door.
What a wonderful place! Awesome views, sunrise and sunsets! Superb renovation and equipped with everything you need. Local walks are great with coffee stop at Moonfleet Manor. Elm Tree Inn does an awesome Sunday lunch. Even with the lashing wind and rain, we had a great time and will be back.
We had a wonderfully relaxed week at Coastguards Retreat. It’s a special and unique place with spectacular views of The Fleet and nature reserve, plus its fascinating history. The location is partly remote via a long track, giving an ‘away from it all’ feel, although everything you need is nearby in the local villages. On arrival we appreciated some personal touches from the owners such as a welcome pack of local goodies and a bottle of sparkling wine. Also, there was a handy pair of binoculars for viewing all the lovely sights. The house is immaculately finished and well equipped, very comfortable with its open plan living space and uninterrupted panoramic views of Chesil Beach and the sea beyond. The patio area has a communal feel, from where we enjoyed some breath-taking sunsets – no need to dash off anywhere to find them! There is also a lovely terraced garden space at the rear of the cottage. We had fun exploring the local area and found some great beaches just within a few miles. There are fabulous and peaceful walks right on the doorstep with a track down to the coastal path and nature reserve. It was a real pleasure witnessing the wildlife such as the local hare and the antics of the skylarks. We highly recommend Coastguards Retreat and of course look forward to returning one day.
