Description

Is this what you’ve been dreaming of? A luxurious contemporary apartment in a period Victorian townhouse with sea views, set above the beating heart of a thriving seaside town and just a few moments from the promenade? Then you’ve found it at Crown.

Seaside splendour
The designers of this fabulous top floor apartment went to great lengths to make sure guests can enjoy nothing but comfort while staying in Seaton. That’s why the wide bay window is inlaid with seating to let you gaze out over the waves and watch the world go by below. It’s why there are stylish armchairs set around the period fireplace with polished bottle-green metro tiles. And it’s the reason why a stunning chandelier bathes the room in dappled light and an Oriental rug on the floor warms your toes.

The kitchen, meanwhile, is effortless in its presentation. Classic white surfaces are topped with practical solid wood counters and there is space to rustle up a fish pie for supper or lay out bubbles and canapés for a celebration. The oak flooring is unbroken throughout this open-plan space, but as you move into the bedrooms it is replaced with luxurious thick pile carpets in neutral shades to match the relaxed, soothing atmosphere. An exposed beam peeks from the plaster in the master bedroom, hinting at the building’s history (in a past life, this was a bank to serve the local fishermen and market traders) and striking Shaker style furniture is timeless in its design.

Step outdoors, and the sea is moments away as you stroll past the independent shops, perhaps stopping in at the family-run bakery for a loaf of freshly baked artisan bread or a sweet treat. Cross the Esplanade to the beautiful sculptures and find yourself right in the centre of the bay, with chalky cliffs to either side and the calm, azure sea stretching to the horizon and beyond. You’re also on the South West Coast Path, with stunning rambles to sleepy Beer in one direction and bustling Lyme Regis in the other.

Bedrooms and bathrooms
There is space for four at Crown, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The first bedroom has a king-size bed and the second has a standard double. The spacious bathroom has a bath with shower.

Reviews

We loved our stay at the apartment - it is in a great location as well as being comfortable and very clean. The kitchen is well equipped, the shower is powerful and the beds are comfy. It was exactly as shown in the photographs and it is the perfect base for exploring the local area. We enjoyed visits to Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, Exeter and Charmouth. The apartment has supermarkets, shops, cafes and pubs just a short walk away as well as attractions such as The Donkey Sanctuary and Beer Quarry an easy drive away. We would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to stay in Seaton.

Mrs B,

Lovely apartment, good location for exploring Devon and Dorset. Beach a 3 minute walk away. Parking permit a bonus as daily parking charges are expensive. We would be happy to return.

Mrs P,

A beautiful apartment in an excellent location. Conveniently located for exploring Seaton, just a couple of minutes walk from the beach and Seaton’s great choice of cafes and takeaways. We would definitely stay again.

Mrs S,

Lovely, comfortable, large and well-equipped apartment. Excellent location, amenities easily accessible within minutes, although a view over an Aldi carpark and a large building site is a compromise for such convenience of being so central. The alarm of the restaurant just underneath the bedroom windows going off at 11:30pm on the second night was rather unpleasant especially as it took about 15 minutes for the alarm to be turned off. I suppose this was just unlucky for us. Hot water tank runs out very quickly and unless the booster setting is then activated numerous times during the day, one would need to wait for the next day to have access to hot water, which is less than ideal on a holiday.
