Description
Soak up those warm rays as you listen to the gentle flow of the river and gaze at your beautiful valley views. Welcome to your soundtrack and backdrop to possibly the best scenic get-together ever.
Riverside relaxation
South facing spots don’t get much better. Capturing the best of those Devon sunbeams (and all of them too) and placed in front of a very scenic valley. Flanked by ancient woodlands that gleam green in the sunlight. Crossed by the East Lyn River that ambles past on its way to the sea, just a short distance away, your holiday home couldn’t be in a prettier spot.
The house makes the absolute most of its position too. All windows look out across to the woods – open any of them to catch the sounds of the waters babbling past. The spacious living room, furnished in elegant leather and with a striking pink feature wall and cosy wood stove, comes flooded in natural light and placed to gaze at those views. One settee sits in the window recess for perhaps the best vistas.
Flow-through into your warm and sunny kitchen where a stunning apex ceiling rises high above you accentuating the feeling of space and light. Cooking for 8 is no trouble with the double ovens, the 5-ring stove and family-friendly fridge. And the comfy sofa in the dining area means the chef will have plenty of company. Dish up at the large table or outside on the very pleasant patio area with, yes, more views of the river and woodland. There’s a barbecue too for some al fresco cook-ups with vistas.
Venture forth for breathtaking walks upriver to Exmoor and downriver to Lynmouth. At one end, the world of one of England’s beauty spots awaits while at the other, a typical Devon village with a harbour, traditional pubs and shops plus the glorious coastline.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Mariners has four bedrooms, two on the first floor (1 king and 1 twin) and two on the second (1 double and 1 Superking that’s convertible to twin on request). Two have en suite showers and there’s also a family bathroom and cloakroom.
