Description

Even Lewis Carroll would have envied the wonderland that awaits you at Swallows Return. From the imposing wood clad barn to the stunning outdoor spaces and gardens, welcome to another world for a while.

Blissful abode

Swallows Return is one of a kind. A design eye has touched every element of what you see and experience when you stay here, all you have to do is relax. Wander through the Mediterranean garden at the front of the property and wonder when the olives will fall from the most majestic of trees. You’ll find welcome shade in this part of the garden on the hottest of days while the decking to the rear soaks up the sun and views over Romney Marsh, and leads to the vast garden and understated pond beyond, fenced for safety.

Inside, Swallows Return is a wondrous creation of rustic flooring, warm oak furniture and fabrics that ooze style and references to the flora, fauna and wildlife outdoors. Settle in the sitting room with its stylish Italian sofa and trunk of games. While away the hours to a soundtrack of your choosing through the Bose sound system or catch up on those Netflix episodes under a blanket. The contemporary touches in the dining room and kitchen will call all to dinner on time or for that first proper coffee of the day from the Nespresso machine. The doors open onto the decking and you may be drawn to stay a while. The setting is simply so impressive, with a tennis court you can ask to you use, could enthrall you all enough to stay home despite best laid plans.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There are three bedrooms on the first floor of Swallows Returns while the shower room is located on the ground floor. The master bedroom has a gorgeous wooden king size bedstead and its own shower room. Turn the radio on and a hens egg breakfast in bed is called for. There is also a double bedroom and twin bedroom with beautiful and ample storage.

Practicalities

There is a fenced pond at this property and children should be supervised at all times.

Reviews

We would not hesitate to rebook swallows return, the cottage is gorgeous and the garden is beautiful. We felt totally at home, we could not believe how well equipped the cottage was and the owners were so lovely.

Mrs L,

Beautifully presented property with added bonus of access to a lovely garden. Owners helpful and thoughtful. One of the best places w3 have stayed in.

Ms W,

We have to say that Swallows return is the best cottage we have ever had, and we have have been renting for more than 20 years. The cottage was beautifully appointed, to a very high standard, and was very comfortable. The massive highlight, for us, was the massive (2 acres), and well tended garden, which we all found a delight to exlore and enjoy. Penny and Bill were also very welcoming hosts, and seemed to enjoy our company.

Mr B,

Absolutely lovely barn accommodation surrounded by the owners’ very special garden (which they kindly allow guests to explore) and countryside beyond. It is just 5 or 6 miles to the sea at Dymchurch, St Mary’s Bay, Littlestone and Greatstone, with the very pleasant seaside town of Hythe a little further, and the country roads were no problem even for a large car. The shopping outlet village at Ashford is worth a visit if you enjoy shopping and a bargain, about 6 miles away. The owners are friendly and they have clearly put a lot of thought and care into furnishing and equipping the barn, it is very comfortable indeed and finished and furnished to a high standard. We couldn’t fault it and would recommend Swallows Return without hesitation.

Mr B,

This property is simply excellent. Warm and bright, well equipped, located in beautiful gardens, and very quiet.
