The cool contemporary design edge in this stunning Kent barn conversion blends the very best of then and now ensuring you’re enchanted and relaxed in your surroundings for the duration of your stay.
Saddlehurst Barn stands alone, wooden clad, unassuming and romantically lit at dusk. Little will you know, until you step over the threshold what bright and fresh touches await you in this fantastically finished holiday home in rural Kent. Making the most of upside down living, the kitchen, dining room and sitting room are on the first floor. In full show stopping style the barn’s ancient beams greet and guard you while the wide picture window reminds you of the modern world outside.
The sleek and colourful design choices bring the contemporary into this historic building. The marble worktop in the kitchen is both on point design wise and perfectly primed should you opt for baking activities while you’re here. While away relaxing evenings in from the comfort of plump leather sofas in the sitting room where you can load on the cosy vibes come winter by cranking up the Swedish style wood burner. From upstairs, the views across the Weald of Kent are enviable and we leave you hankering for a wander along nearby footpaths to discover more of this beautiful part of the country.
Soak up the sunshine of the Garden of England in the privacy of you own secluded garden. When the owners’ hens oblige you’ll find some fresh free range eggs in your welcome hamper for the most locally of sourced Kent brunches. In the summer months enquire about use of the covered swimming pool for an extra special addition to your stay. Heated and complete with a telescopic cover, it’ll do the trick come rain or shine.
The barn sits in the grounds of the owners’ beautiful farmhouse a short distance from Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. There are bustling market towns and stately National Trust properties to add to this already memorable stay in Kent.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
On the ground floor are two en suite bedrooms offering cool in the hot summer months and cosy nights in chillier periods. The master bedroom has a king size bed and shower over bath while the twin bedroom has a double shower en suite.
Secure storage for holidaymakers' own bicycles is provided. The swimming pool is available by arrangement between the months of May to the end September. The owners' have a very friendly Cocker Spaniel called Harry who will give you a warm welcome!
Saddlehurst Barn more than lived up to the promise of the website - a beautiful conversion with much attention to detail. We have stayed in many holiday rentals but this is certainly in the top drawer! Thank you Penny & Phil for your welcome, advice and general bonhomie in these difficult times when we can't all do things just as we'd like to. We found there was more than enough to do and see locally to keep us busy for the week - so some left for next time. P.S. Best eggs we've had for ages, made a great frittata!
We enjoyed staying here so much, so we didn't venture out in the evenings to any local pubs... we enjoyed staying in! We listened to the owl in the evenings... The surrounding countryside is beautiful to walk in and a visit to Rye is worth the drive. Our hosts provided good suggestions for places to visit. We very much hope to return.
We really enjoyed our stay in Saddlehurst Barn: it is so nice inside; Harry [the dog] gave us a very warm welcome. The pool was amazing and we loved the slide and diving board. Your vegetable garden is so neat and the views are spectacular! Me and Mummy also loved the chickens (Pumpkin, Louise and Bonnie). Thank you for an amazing holiday! Lots of love
We have had a wonderful week staying in this beautifully-converted barn...This is a beautiful part of the country, and we are so thankful to have had this idyllic base to explore it from... We would like to thank you for hospitality and local tips as well as the tasty cake and the use of your idyllic pool. You have been wonderful hosts and we hope to be able to stay here again in the future as there is still so much to see. The girls want to take Harry home, btw, they love him!
A beautifully restored and very well equipped barn. Charming place to stay. Hosts are wonderful people.
We've had a wonderful week in this beautiful barn - thank you for a great experience. From day 1 on it felt like a real home, not like a holiday let. We enjoyed it and hope to come back soon!
We have had a lovely stay in your well equipped barn, we have been very comfortable. Thank you for all the lovely weekly treats! Thank you Phil for your information of the area. We will definitely recommend your stunning barn to our friends.
We have had a fantastic 5 days in this beautiful barn. Thank you very much for your tips and hospitality and all the lovely goodies you left for us. The marmalade is delicious.
Saddlehurst Barn was excellent.
As it turns out 2/3 of Kent can understand French. We write our comments in Mollieres language.
