Luxurious countryside living near the pretty village of Pluckley, The Nutshell is a quaint wood cabin carefully restored to an exceptional standard and is the perfect place for your romantic, rural retreat in the ‘Garden of England’, Kent.
Luxury cabin life
Tucked away near Dering Wood, the property is within a mile of two great pubs - one renowned for its seafood - and a lovely farm shop offering fresh local produce. For brave adventurers, the idyllic parish of Pluckley is famous for being one of the most haunted villages in England, while nature lovers can admire the enchanting countryside and apple orchards on their doorstep, or the golden sands of the Kent coast only 30 minutes away.
Approaching the property, you’ll immediately notice the beautiful, covered entrance-way and ‘loggia’ with plenty of cut logs to keep the wood burner lit on cooler days. Entering the cosy lodge, open-plan living spaces have been furnished with flair, from its natural wood floors to the workbench-style sideboards. The contemporary feel continues into the dining area where French doors flood the room with light. Rustle up evening meals for you and your loved one in the well-equipped kitchen, complete with gas cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. And then snuggle in front of the woodburning stove and watch a movie on the smart TV for a relaxing evening together.
The courtyard has comfy garden furniture for dining at sunset, a charcoal barbecue to rustle up supper on summer nights, and undercover seating in the loggia so you can curl up with a book in the shade.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
The bedroom sleeps two and enjoys countryside views through its natural wood windows. Exposed wooden beams and light colour palettes immerse you in nature, while the large double bed will tempt you to enjoy long lie-ins together or to head to bed early after a day exploring the surrounding countryside. The bathroom has an invigorating rain shower, and a stunning, centrepiece copper roll top bath for long evening soaks.

The Nutshell was such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Everything was finished to an incredibly high standard and was kitted out with everything you could possibly need. The owners were so kind and friendly but without being intrusive. An oasis of calm away from our usual London lives - we will definitely be returning. Miss Katie Richards - 17th November 2018

A fabulous property - very quiet; house well presented. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had super fittings- a walk in shower and a copper bath.. A great welcome basket of goodies was waiting for us on arrival. An outstanding property to stay in.Mrs Janice Vermeulen - 30th July 2018
A delightful cottage in a beautiful setting. Very friendly too.Linda Wigley - 24th June 2018
We loved our stay in The Nutshell. There was heavy snow during our visit but there couldn't have been a better place to be. It is a cosy, quirky and romantic property and we loved snuggling up under the big throw watching films in front of the log burner. We managed to visit Leeds Castle before the snow and it is simply beautiful.Your ticket lasts for a year should you want to visit again. We also visited Tenterden where there are gorgeous wee shops and we loved the coffee shop, Nutmeg, which served a great selection of gluten free cakes. We also ate at the Rose and Crown where the staff were friendly, the food was good (gluten free options available) and the open fire very welcome! The farm shop at the end of the road is also worth a visit. We got veg, soup ( we returned for more!) cheese and crackers. We will be returning to the Nutshell. Mr Paul Holland - 5th March 2018
The cottage was lovely. In the middle of nowhere but still close to pubs and trains. Everything was clean and very comfortable. The owners very nice and helpful. We loved the oven and the provided wood. There were plenty of fresh towels and a very nice welcome basket. The kitchen was very well equipped and the cottage nicely decorated.Mrs Iris Hofmann - 5th January 2018
