Description

Holiday in history

The main living space in Cloth Workers Barn is a timber-framed cathedral of good taste, with exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling on white plaster to pick out every detail of craftsmanship. Below, curved beams are referenced by the soft arms of sofas while curios and ornaments add interest without ever becoming busy – this is far too grand a space to ever be overwhelmed.

The kitchen is extraordinarily stylish, with rising display units showing off gorgeous pottery and artworks. The marbled worktops are classically opulent, the wine coolers a modern necessity, while the dining set is carved in the shapes of mid-century furniture from hand-milled wood, for a striking effect. The show-stopping wood burner is placed in front of full-length windows that look out onto The Cloth Hall, a medieval yeoman’s timber hall house. Overlooking it all is a fabulous designer wallpaper referencing the natural materials from which this barn was constructed all those years ago.

Move into the bedrooms, and melt at the sight of the four-poster bed in effortless industrial steel and reflected in the artwork on the wall. A majestic Catchpole & Rye bath completes this slice of luxury. Adjacent is the second bedroom, where jungle print wallpaper feels utterly contemporary in the heart of this historic palace. The third bedroom is stern but never stale, with a monochrome palette and garden views.

Outside, there’s a private terraced garden. You’ll enjoy wandering the large gardens and are free to pick your own vegetables from the plot. There’s a lavish swimming pool.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There is space for six in this slice of history, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two bedrooms have king-size beds and en-suite shower rooms, while the master bedroom has a four-poster king-size bed, freestanding bath and en-suite shower room.

Reviews

Cloth Workers Barn is an amazing place to stay set in beautiful grounds. Everything provided is of a high standard. The Barn’s interior design is incredible and very stylish. The owners were very friendly and we appreciated the generous welcome pack and fresh vegetables provided from their own kitchen garden. A very relaxing stay in a wonderful village. Would highly recommend booking this barn.
