Ambling assured

Allow yourself to be captivated by the serenity of the lake. It’s all part of the tranquility of this place. Paralleled by the calm and warm interiors of Holly Nook this is a place of repose and good times. Come on in, allow the entranceway to steer you to the light-filled living space with its pitched roof and picture windows. The patio doors lead out here onto a pretty terrace from which the views are simply awesome. The landscaped gardens surrounding, only add to the beauty of the place.

Back inside, the muted tones carry you through the property to a formal dining room and kitchen diner, and four spacious bedrooms in this single storey property. The kitchen diner has all the equipment you need for rustling up brunch or a supper of locally sourced produce and a casual dining area with table and chairs. Why not make the most of the barbecue on the terrace on warmer evenings and enjoy the view while you dine. The utility room doubles as a muddy boot deposit space after a hike in the hills and here you’ll also find a shower room.

A short walk guides you to Ambleside itself, a pretty lakeside town you’ll want to explore time and again. You’re also close to Waterhead Pier from where you can join a lake cruise for a different perspective and to reach other shoreside village. Or, you may simply enjoy staring at the millpond that is Lake Windermere as the sun rises or sets. Perhaps you crave the adrenalin the water promises, or the serenity of boating along a stretch of water waving cheery hellos to fellow cruisers. Seaside and surf aside, lakeside holidays are a tide-free alternative for windsurfing, paddle boarding, wild swimming and rowing. Why not make the most of your private jetty and access to the shore - have a go at them all while you’re here…

Bedrooms and bathrooms

All on one level you’ll find three double bedrooms continuing the calm colours of the house yet each using an accent colour or wallpaper to make the room its own. The master bedroom enjoys spectacular lake views and the fourth bedroom is perfect for children with its bunk beds. There are two bathrooms to comfortably serve the house’s eight guests.

We had a lovely week at Holly Nook and all 3 generations of the family really enjoyed the space, and coziness of the house. The location was perfect and we hired boats and kayaks to explore the lake.

We could not recommend this property highly enough. It's a beautiful house, very well equipped with everything you need on your holiday making it a very comfortable, convenient experience. The garden and private jetty were gorgeous and enabled everyone, including pet and young child to fully enjoy the space. We had a small maintenance issue during our stay which was dealt with quickly and professionally by both Good Life Cottages and the owners which was greatly appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone else looking for a beautiful place to stay in a very convenient part of town with easy access to Lake Windermere, Ambleside and the surrounding areas.
