Description

A feast for the senses

If you’re hungry for a holiday with a difference, then put a food tour of the Lakes at the top of your list. Exciting new producers are weaving magic with local ingredients, while wildly talented chefs are flocking here too (there are two Michelin-starred restaurants within a short drive). Rivers Edge, perched beside the River Rothay, is just a few minutes’ wander from Ambleside, where you’ll discover brilliant delis offering local cheeses and preserves like Black Garlic Ketchup, butchers to pick up your Salt Marsh Lamb and bottle shops for a pint or two of small-batch brews.

The apartment is perfectly set out for anyone who wants to appreciate all the magic of this very special area. The curved front of the property, lined with floor to ceiling windows and patio doors, flood the space with natural light that changes with the seasons. The modern kitchen is well-equipped with a double oven, tonnes of counter space and prestige finishes. Throw together some of the amazing ingredients you bring back and serve your homecooked dinners on the sun terrace – the ideal way to immerse yourself in the spectacular views of fields, woodland and hilltops as you eat.

Hiking trails run in every direction, so you’ll never be short of places to go foraging, whether it’s blackberry picking on hedgerows in summer or, if you trust your knowledge, hunting for puffball mushrooms in autumn. Make your way to the top of Loughrigg Fell and look back down towards your home for the week. There, can you see it? It’s your slice of heaven, served with a hot cup of tea, waiting for your return.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There is space for four at Rivers Edge. Its two bedrooms have king-size beds and en suites – one a bathroom with shower, the other a shower room.
