Lakeview Retreat is located in a prestigious position on the periphery of Bowness on Windermere with breathtaking views across Lake Windermere. This magnificent Edwardian house radiates charm and grandeur from every aspect; from the stunning contemporary designer kitchen, to the formal dining room with oak panelling through the double doors to the fabulous lounge with fabric inlaid panelling. Guests can enjoy "movie night" in the cinema room, relaxing on the 2 comfy sofas, watching their favourite film on the large TV, with the room in complete darkness after closing the electric curtains. The house stands in a 2.5 acre garden surrounded by mature trees and shrubs with a fantastic 100m² patio area with gas fire pit to chill out and soak up the grandeur. On the first floor there are 4 double bedroom - 3 benefit from lake views. Moving up to the second floor, you find a self contained suite with a kitchen and an ensuite shower room. Ideal for members of the party seeking a little more privacy.
Bowness on Windermere is a bustling tourist town with a wide variety of shops selling local produce, outdoor clothing, locally made crafts and gifts as well as a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants. The Lake District is renowned for being the adventure capital of the UK. There is an activity here for everyone from sailing, climbing, hill walking, horse riding to kayaking. No matter whether you are an adventurous sports person or a complete novice you can take on a challenge whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings. From the pier at Bowness, there are boats trips available to tour the lake. The steamers "Teal", "Swan" "Tern" and "Swift" regularly welcome visitors onboard to relax and take in the spectacular landscape.
Accommodation: Substantial detached stone house set over 3 storeys
Ground floor
Formal lounge: with two Italian leather sofas, remote start gas open fire and beautiful panelling inlaid with fabric.
Formal dining room: with large table to adequately seat 10 guests and original oak panelling.
Cinema room: with large TV and remote electric curtains.
Kitchen: with large central island, 4 wine coolers, range cooker, Miele fridge/freezer, 2 dishwashers and built in bar with its own sink. Large dining table, comfortable seating area with sofas to take in the beautiful lake views. A cosy snug with large frame TV and remote controlled gas fire.
First floor
Wordsworth Suite: Spacious room with lake views, super king bed, ensuite with 2 cross water wet room large rose showers, free standing bath and walk in wardrobe. NB: This bathroom also doubles up as the main family bathroom, it has 2 entrances one from Wordsworth Suite and the other from the main landing.
Wainwright Suite: Spacious room with lake views, king size bed, smart TV, voice activated soft lighting and blinds, ensuite wet room with giant drench shower head and body jets, WC and sink with LED tap.
Ruskin: Double bed, smart TV, voice activated soft lighting and blinds.
Coniston: Very spacious room with bay window to enjoy the views across the lake, wardrobe, voice activated soft lighting and blinds.
Second floor
Windermere Suite: Self contained suite with cosy balcony and lake views. Kitchen area with induction hob, hide and slide oven, fridge with icebox. Comfortable seating, small dining table, double bed which can be easily hidden away. The suite has its own entrance separate to the main house accessed via an external spiral staircase or it can be accessed internally via the main house.
Garden: 2.5 acres completely enclosed mature gardens, large pond, tree house, driveway with electric gates, 100m² patio area with gas fire pit and plenty of outdoor seating and ambient lighting. Please be aware that children using the tree house and when close to the pond must be supervised at all times.
Heating: There is underfloor heating and a remote control gas open fire in the lounge.
Parking: Driveway accommodating up to 10 cars.
Pets: Sorry no pets.
General: Bed linen and towels provided. Free unlimited Wifi. Mobile phone signal good. This property has CCTV the system has been installed for security purposes, covers most the grounds and can only accessed by the owner or with the owner's permission. The system was provided by a professional company (YESS Security) who can access the live and recorded data but only following permission from the owner.
