Description
Crave tranquility no more. Imagine a haven for hunkering down with one of the world’s most revered wildernesses on your doorstep. Pack your walking boots and a good book or three. Serenity awaits.
Lakes lushness
Nestled in a very quiet hamlet between Coniston and Hawkshead is Knipefold Barn. This beautiful barn conversion with its original oak beams, unusual oak doors, underfloor heating and tasteful, plush furnishings is the perfect abode for a spot of switch off. Welcoming five guests, this spacious home promises you’ll each find a nook of tranquility. The slate floor that welcomes you in the hallway, cool in the summer and heated in chillier months, provides a suitable sense of grandeur as it steers you into the house.
Making the most of the spectacular views, the living space is on the first floor of the barn and an impressive oak staircase leads you there. You may be glued to the window in the sitting room for a while. The gas burner begs you to crank it up in the winter and you’ll be drawn to it after a day going up and down dell. This is a vast open plan area with polished oak floors and pitched ceilings adding to that sense of space. The dining area leads into the kitchen with its Aga and breakfast bar. Something slowed cooked for dinner after a day’s walk is easier than you think.
This is a wonderful spot for a walking holiday in the Lake District and its a pet friendly holiday home too, welcoming two of your four legged friends. With hundreds of routes on your doorstep that range from gentle climbs to adventurous hiking, there is something for all abilities. Enjoy the sculpture walk in Grizedale Forest, take in the famous Tarn Hows view or rise to the challenge with a climb over Latterbarrow or Claife Heights. Round off your step count for the day with the 1 mile wander to the nearest pub for a well earned tipple.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Two of the three bedrooms are also on the first floor. One has a super king size bed and the other a king size bed. Both have a Villeroy & Boch en suite and night lighting should you need to find your way around in the dark. On the ground floor is single room.
