Just the two of you, Lord and Lady-ing it at your very own lodge. Chilling and relaxing, together in absolute peace and quiet. So yes, you definitely deserve to treat yourselves to this one.

Norfolk seat

It isn’t often you get the chance to stand guard to one of Norfolk’s finest country estates. And enjoy absolute peace and quiet in a rural getaway for just the two of you. You see that South Lodge East will give you both all of this from the moment you arrive at the entrance to the Holkham Estate. Yes, that is your retreat on the left.

Built-in 1847, your lodge has a strong sense of history. You are, after all, staying on a historic family seat whose parklands and woodlands date back centuries. Beautifully restored, your getaway offers cosy, intimate accommodation in stylish elegance with stunning surroundings on your doorstep.

Feature windows on sandstone walls open into a living room just for two where a plush leather sofa oozes comfort. You can almost feel the glow of the woodstove, perfect for the chillier months by the sea. Rustic motifs carry you through to the kitchen with literally all you need to create the perfect feast for two.

Take it outside into your private walled garden and soak up the Norfolk sunshine as the two of you enjoy intimate al fresco dining. And then to explore your country estate. Miles of walks and cycle trails await you and your furry friends. Bike hire is available too. Don’t miss the lake, de rigueur in any discerning seat, and then make your way to Lady Anne’s Drive. Follow it north to the glorious sandy beaches this part of Norfolk does so very well.

Wells-next-the-Sea lies just a short drive away – no need to worry about parking since your lodge comes with a free parking pass for the town and beaches. Discover the foodie feasts that await you with fresh local produce taking a delicious centre stage. And then head back home to your romantic retreat where it’s just you two again.

Bedroom and bathroom

South Lodge East sleeps two in a cosy bedroom with a king-sized bed set in elegant creams with scarlet accents. The adjoining bathroom has a walk-in shower.

The Gatehouse is wonderfully renovated, in great style. There was a fabulous welcome pack of various delicious foods and even the dog was catered for. We did not actually go anywhere off the Estate this time as we really made use of the free parking and the 10% off card. The Estate is a delight - so smoothly run with so much history. We also had tickets for the Candlelit Tour which was astonishing.

Mrs B,

A lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting. Fabulous walks straight from the door.

mr G,

A great stay in a great place. The welcome pack hit the right spot. We'll be back

Mr Iain H,

Lovely visit. Beach and walled garden at Holkham at treat.

Mrs Catherine H,

Delightful lodge. Welcome pack much appreciated. Enjoyed exploring grounds, our first visit to Holkham Estate but not our last!

Past Customer,

Lovely stay in beautiful surroundings - peaceful & relaxing. Lots of fresh air, sea side walks, shops in Burham. (Loved No 29 Bar & Restaurant) and chips on the harbour in Wells - perfect!

Mrs Katie B,

Lovely break away in a luxury lodge just what I needed. Couldn't have asked for more. Especially enjoyed sitting in the garden with a fresh coffee. Took time to explore the wildlife.

M Party,

The gate - lodge was immaculately clean and comfortable with the 'welcome pack' an added bonus. An ideal base for exploring the lovely Holkham estate itself and the surrounding coast by bike and foot. A lovely footpath from 'The Lookout' to Wells and The Beach Cafe.

Past Customer,

Lovely stay in a beautiful location, Weather was fabulous for most of the week and enjoyed the estate and local beaches, Well + Holt.

Past Customer,

An amazing place to stay! With gorgeous weather too. A well equipped lodge - so cosy too. We have enjoyed visiting 'huge' beaches and the Holkham Estate. Thank you to Marcel for sorting out the TV!

Mr Edward H,

Our first stay at the lodge and hope not our last! Holkham is a place to relax and enjoy the the wonderful surroundings. Sadly it rained during our visit but we still made it to the beach every day. Also enjoyed the log fire and glass of wine or two! Thanks

Mr Richard K,

Lovely - and the views are amazing! If you've not been to Norfolk before, we'd recommend Brancaster Beach as an alternative to Wells. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Mr Julian Q,

A lovely lodge with the opportunity to explore the Holkham Estate. We appreciated the rural views from every window and the cosy log burner in the evenings. Prosecco on arrival and a locally sourced goodie bag was a nice touch! We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked a second stay here for later in the year.

Mrs C,

A lovely and comfortable bolthole. So nice to have treats (prosecco, chocs etc on arrival). Woodburner gave extra boost of heat needed - chilly evenings. We were slightly surprised to find no table - it would fit nicely in the alcove where there is a desk (a bit redundant). Fantastic base to see North Norfolk.

The M,

Lovely cottage, very comfortable. Agree with comment above!
