Stylish and sleek, contemporary and yet timeless, this luxury self-catering retreat is an unexpected find, tucked away in the North Norfolk hamlet of Cranmer. Located just a few miles south of the Royal Norfolk Coast, and originally built in the late-1800s, the Orangery features full-length windows through which friends and families will discover the finer meaning of tranquillity.
Where flowers grow
It used to be that an orangery was a room or building in which orange and other fruit trees were protected and allowed to grow. Surely, even a short stay at the Cranmer Hall Barn Orangery will have the same effect on you. Standing within the same grounds as the Cranmer Hall Barn, the Orangery is decorated with elegant chandeliers, an antique Spanish dining table, and Georgian chairs, all awash with natural light within a neat and airy open-plan sitting room and dining room. This juxtaposition of new and old imbues the property with stylish confidence and doesn’t compromise an ounce on comfort. Featuring a floor-to-ceiling Swedish wood burning stove and plush leather sofas, there is nowhere comfier to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea while the rain scratches softly at the windows.
The Orangery also features a fully-equipped, hand-built “Kestrel” kitchen, so that guests can throw together feasts and easy meals. Whether you gather around the table in the dining room or choose to dine al fresco on the patio, those moments you spend together will feel all the heartier for the rich views of the surrounding countryside.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
The king-size master suite in the Orangery features a handsome mahogany sleigh bed and an en-suite bathroom. Not to be outdone, the single room offers a single mahogany sleigh bed with the possibility of a truckle bed available for an extra fee and by request on booking. This room is set off the main living space and is used for extra seating when not in use as a bedroom. Guests staying in the single room have the convenience of a separate shower room with WC.
Due to the quality of the antiques in the property we regret we cannot accept children. A starter fuel pack for the wood burner is provided. We will require a £250 security deposit, payable two weeks prior to the start of your holiday. Mobile phone reception is variable.
Special Note: Cranmer Hall Barn Orangery can be booked with Cranmer Hall Barn which sleeps four. This arrangement is ideal for extended parties who wish to holiday together but retain their own space.
The property was very nice and in a good location for us.
Cranmer Barn Orangery is a very special property with the highest quality appliances and extremely tastefully decorated. Location is quiet, almost Mediterranean looking.. and fantastic for getting to all the sights and beaches of North Norfolk.
Clean and comfortable - finished to a very high standard. Lovely terrace on which to eat, read and watch the wildlife.
For anyone who values peace and quiet, this is the place. We have enjoyed elsewhere in North Norfolk with Norfolk Cottages but this was the best!
Cranmer Hall Barn Orangery was the best place we have ever stayed in Norfolk. Wonderful location, surrounded by wildlife and countryside, and beautiful warm and spacious living spaces. We're looking forward to returning as soon as possible!
We absolutely loved the Orangery. It felt like we were at home from the moment we stepped through the door. We will definitely return.
