Description
Apple Tree Cottage bursts with wonder. With portions of this idyllic Grade-II listed luxury self-catering cottage dating back to the 15th century, it now boasts traditional beamed walls and ceilings, brass and iron bed frames, and plenty more pastoral touches to immerse families and groups of friends in the richness of its rustic heritage.
Country charm
Charm and rusticity truly are the immediate themes here at Apple Tree Cottage, beginning with the kitchen/dining room down a few steps from the entrance lobby. Featuring an electric range cooker in the large inglenook fireplace, pamment tile floors and dark-stained wood, the kitchen then follows a narrow, winding staircase up to the sitting room on the first floor. There, guests can enjoy the full magic of this magnificently refurbished cottage. The vaulted ceiling, the exposed beams, the deep, comfortable seating, and the views over the village will surely soothe your soul.
Through the kitchen is an intimately secluded courtyard where lovebirds can share a nice glass of wine and dine al fresco after a leisurely day on the nearby Boudicca Way trail, or fishing out on the Taswood Lakes. Holidays are all about treating yourself, though, and the village of Stoke Holy Cross offers fine dining for those evenings you want to go all out.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
With two quaint double bedrooms – one on each floor – Apple Tree Cottage is as perfect for families as it is for couples looking for a romantic escape. The double room on the first floor sits under the eaves of the house and has a view over the village, while the double room on the ground floor, with its beamed ceiling and walls, sits alongside the family bathroom and looks over the cosy little front garden.
Practicalities
A travel cot and highchair are available on request upon booking. Please be aware that there is a steep, narrow-tread Norfolk winder staircase to the first floor, which is unlikely to be suitable for toddlers or those with mobility problems.
