Bliss. It could be a lot closer to home than you ever thought possible. In a hot tub, for example. With a glass of bubbly in hand. And sweeping views over National Trust hills and cliffs, towards the azure sea.
Space designed for living
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the classic colours of the lounge. Its rich burgundy tones and the roaring log burner make this a cosy place to enjoy dramatic weather from pink-hued summer sunsets to windy winter mornings. Step into the kitchen, meanwhile, and be greeted by a space designed from the ground up for entertaining – so pop on some records and have a little fun. Polished obsidian-black worktops and the ample dining space are flooded with light by the patio doors, which marry the indoors with your striking raised decking area.
Next, wander through the spacious hallway to the sleeping accommodation. Here you’ll discover sumptuous rooms decorated with the discipline of bright, white sheets, pared-back pops of colour for maximum impact and sea views on the north aspect.
Not to mention the outdoor space would be to do this fabulous holiday home a disservice. On endless summer days, recline on sun loungers on the decked terrace as the cool breeze blows in from the Atlantic. Glass partitions allow for uninterrupted views, while the pretty bistro furniture is perfect for breakfasts of coffee and croissants or evening drinks. On the lower level, the lawn is private, secure and lined with established hedges and palm fronds.
Step outside and Ilfracombe's High Street is just half a mile’s saunter down the hill. The fabulous architecture of this Victorian resort town is today populated by independent businesses including sustainable retailers, fabulous food producers and bijou cafés. Wander over to the harbour, where brightly-coloured boats bob in the impossibly-blue waters. Indulge yourself in beach days that rejuvenate the senses, or explore the fascinating silhouettes of Ilfracombe’s famous Tunnel Beaches.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
The Farthings is fully-equipped for larger groups, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There are two spacious master bedrooms with sumptuous super-king beds and en suites (both with showers, one with a bath), a third bedroom with king-size bed and a twin room with one fixed single bed and one trundle bed. The family bathroom is kitted-out with a bath and walk-in shower. There are heated towel rails and clever features like smart TVs and Bluetooth mirrors throughout.

An amazing week for the extended family ( 6 adults, 4 kids) in The Farthings and The Nest. The size of the house is perfect with a lounge to sit 10 people comfortably. Outside gardens were beautiful with cracking views out to sea. And of course the hot tub and terrace kept us entertained when we didn't want to venture out. Perfect... Thanks for providing such great accommodation.
We booked our week in the Farthings to enable us to spend some much needed family time together following a really challenging year dealing with COVID. While we were based in Ilfracombe the majority of our holiday it was spent surfing and walking around Croyde Bay. We arrived at the Farthings after a long drive and were blown away with how nice the house is. It is laid out beautifully and is equipped to the highest standard. The six in our party which included three teenagers quickly settled in and due to the size of the property were never under each other’s feet. The communal areas of the house were stunning, all taking full advantage of the lovely sea views. We spent many happy hours in the hot tub, which is located on the deck, watching the sun go down. The owners were perfect hosts and contacted us a couple of times by phone to check we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend the Farthings and wouldn’t hesitate to book it again for another holiday if we get the chance.
This is a lovely, lovely home. It's set up high above Ilfracombe and gives amazing views out to sea, Wales being visible on clear days. We occupied all the bedrooms and all the beds were extremely comfortable. The TV in the lounge is huge and has Sky and Netflix, so even on rainy days or evenings, we were kept entertained. The biggest hit was the hot tub, which is positioned on the decking, with wonderful views. It was lovely to go in and have the jacuzzi lights on and relax. A very restful holiday, thank you!
The property was amazing, the views, the decor and the equipment, they literally had covered everything. Couple of little issues but the owners resolved these immediately, can't fault anything, an amazing property.
Lovely well equipped family home! A lot of thought has gone into making this a luxury home. The tea/coffee hamper and fresh flowers were a lovely welcome. We took our family of 8 adults and a baby for a belated birthday celebration. I particularly like sitting together enjoying a family meal or playing games, the Farthings was perfect for that. My daughter, son in law and baby had the Farthings nest, which was ideal in that they had separate space whilst also being able to join in with the rest of the family. The hot tub was a hit with our younger adults even in the rain! Which we had a fair amount of. The thing I liked most though, was looking at the view through the big picture windows, absolutely fantastic! Would definitely return.
A truly beautiful home with wonderful panoramic views of the sea. Bedrooms tastefully decorated and kitchen well stocked with everything you would need. We loved being in the hot tub and watching the sun set.
Having been once again hit by the COVID 19 pandemic and no trip abroad, we rolled our abroad trip over for another year and for the 2nd year running took a UK trip. This was last minute, we spent hours as a family looking for somewhere suitable for our family of 2 adults, 2 at 20 years old and 2 at 18 years old. The Farthings did not come up short! WOW from the Euro's being watched with a great size TV and what a view!!! - to the luxury of every room and every bathroom. A really well sized open plan living area and base for exploring the local coastline. The views from the lounge and master bedroom are fantastic. We managed to get one afternoon that was beautiful so played croquet in the gardens followed by a BBQ and hot tub evening. Steph the owner checked in via text to make sure everything was ok, and a lovely welcome pack on arrival too. It is a great base from which to explore lots of local walks and beaches. It really is a beautiful house with gorgeous views and the chill factor - thank you :)
