Your views? River and woodland in that Devonshire green. Your soundtrack? The gentle babble of the river below and warbling of the birds ahead. Your dilemma? Should you spend the whole holiday relaxing here in the sun?

River hideaway

Devon does valleys so very well and yours has the added advantage of the pretty East Lyn River and masses of sunshine (most of the time). The waters babbling as they tumble over the stones on their way to Lynmouth and the warm rays captured perfectly by the two patios in your garden will make this a holiday to remember.

Before you enter Sunny Corner, take in your view. Deep woodland rises green on the hillside opposite while the river runs at the bottom. Just imagine the wildlife, the changing light and the sounds of nature awaiting you here. Step inside to a delightful kitchen and breakfast room. White cabinetry and wooden countertops stand stylishly in the kitchen next to the elegant breakfast room where accents of green remind you of the Devon countryside through the window.

Then take a turn in your two patios. They both face perfectly south to make the utmost of the warm sunshine and looking out towards the river. South also means catching the best of the day’s light and watching the sunrise and set at either end of the valley. Where better to dine, relax and lounge?

It’s more of the same on the first floor where an elegant living room in stunning greys and creams offers serene relaxation and with woodland and river viewing too. And once the sun’s warmth has gone, there’s a lovely feature wood stove to curl up next to.

And then to the outside. As you’d expect, there’s a whole valley waiting to be explored – follow the river downstream to the sea or upstream to Exmoor. Or take yourselves off on one of the lovely walks on your doorstep. The picturesque village of Lynmouth itself is just a short distance away with its harbour, little shops, restaurants and pubs plus a wealth of coastal hikes. And then it’s back to your Sunny Corner in your valley with your river.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The master bedroom with en suite is on the first floor. Two further bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) are on the second floor where there’s also a family bathroom. There’s a handy cloakroom downstairs.

Lovely location. Clean and comfortable. About 10 minute walk into Lynmouth with a few shops and restaurants.

Mrs P,

What a beautiful property. The scenery is amazing and listening to the river during the night is lovely. Just 5 minutes walk into lynmouth with so much on your doorstep. Plenty of walks outside the front door. The cottage is well equipped. What more could you ask for.

Mrs B,

Beautuful cottage in a picturesque location. Will not disappoint with plenty to offer all age groups. Will definitely return and explore local area further.

Mrs V,

The location of the property is excellent and a great base for this part of Devon. There is plenty of room over three floors and there is a great outdoor space to relax when the sun is shining, including all the cooking accessories. There are walks up to Watersmeet right from the door, although at the moment of writing this review the National Trust cafe was closed due a landslide. Would certainly stay here again.

Mr B,

Excellent property in a wonderful location.Furnishings were lovely and the kitchen extremely well equipped.

Mrs B,

Excellent location, lovely to sit in the garden in the sun while having lunch, Very peaceful with the the sound of the river, comfortable and tastefully decorated cottage.
