Description
Nestled in the valleys of the stunning Snowdonia National Park – Gewllilwyd Fach is a breathtaking, 5-star, self-catering home in the North-West of Wales. An idyllic rural retreat, this traditionally renovated, 19th-century farmhouse sits along the foot of the mighty Cader Idris, within its own enclosed grounds and enjoys awe-inspiring views across the peaks of Snowdonia and beyond.
Farmhouse living in the heart of Snowdonia
A short drive through the countryside brings you to Dolgellau, a quaint market town with a fantastic range of restaurants, cafés and shops – perfect for evenings out or days exploring.
As you open the door to this beautiful holiday cottage, you’re greeted by the classic farmhouse-style decor, from its open wood beams to the slate tile floors. Cosy leather chesterfield chairs and a large dining table share the wood burner-warmed feature living space, with its quirky curved wall and traditional stone fireplace. In the parlour, exposed wooden beams, and a double sofa-bed for extra guests creates a homely feel. The spacious, cottage-style kitchen comes fully equipped, perfect for cooking up family treats, and includes a dishwasher, fridge and additional small freezer, oven and washing machine to take care of all the family’s needs.
Stepping outside into the ‘Land of the Dragon’, the property has a spacious, tranquil garden with a beautiful stone picnic area, overlooking the mountains and valleys that line the horizon. If you want to bring your bikes to explore the surrounding paths and trails, the outhouse provides secure storage. While a comfy seating area and slate patio are ideal for barbeques at sunset.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Heading upstairs, two bedrooms sleep up to four guests. The master is an impressive room with its super king oak bed, exposed beams, high ceilings and original wooden floorboards, along with the iconic curved wall. The second bedroom is a charming dual aspect double, available as a super king or twin singles, and has stunning views across the wilds of North Wales. The large family bathroom has a welcoming roll top bath for long, candlelit soaks, while the quadrant, rainfall shower offers a refreshing start to the day.
Practicalities
There is plenty of parking available. Baby items such as a high chair, travel cot and stair gate are all available on request, but guests are asked to bring their own cot linen. We are happy to provide a generous quantity of logs for the wood burner and you can purchase a further supply at £5 per basket. A double sofa bed is available for 2 extra guests for an additional £16 per night.
