Description

Nestled in the valleys of the stunning Snowdonia National Park – Gewllilwyd Fach is a breathtaking, 5-star, self-catering home in the North-West of Wales. An idyllic rural retreat, this traditionally renovated, 19th-century farmhouse sits along the foot of the mighty Cader Idris, within its own enclosed grounds and enjoys awe-inspiring views across the peaks of Snowdonia and beyond.

Farmhouse living in the heart of Snowdonia

A short drive through the countryside brings you to Dolgellau, a quaint market town with a fantastic range of restaurants, cafés and shops – perfect for evenings out or days exploring.

As you open the door to this beautiful holiday cottage, you’re greeted by the classic farmhouse-style decor, from its open wood beams to the slate tile floors. Cosy leather chesterfield chairs and a large dining table share the wood burner-warmed feature living space, with its quirky curved wall and traditional stone fireplace. In the parlour, exposed wooden beams, and a double sofa-bed for extra guests creates a homely feel. The spacious, cottage-style kitchen comes fully equipped, perfect for cooking up family treats, and includes a dishwasher, fridge and additional small freezer, oven and washing machine to take care of all the family’s needs.

Stepping outside into the ‘Land of the Dragon’, the property has a spacious, tranquil garden with a beautiful stone picnic area, overlooking the mountains and valleys that line the horizon. If you want to bring your bikes to explore the surrounding paths and trails, the outhouse provides secure storage. While a comfy seating area and slate patio are ideal for barbeques at sunset.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Heading upstairs, two bedrooms sleep up to four guests. The master is an impressive room with its super king oak bed, exposed beams, high ceilings and original wooden floorboards, along with the iconic curved wall. The second bedroom is a charming dual aspect double, available as a super king or twin singles, and has stunning views across the wilds of North Wales. The large family bathroom has a welcoming roll top bath for long, candlelit soaks, while the quadrant, rainfall shower offers a refreshing start to the day.

Practicalities

There is plenty of parking available. Baby items such as a high chair, travel cot and stair gate are all available on request, but guests are asked to bring their own cot linen. We are happy to provide a generous quantity of logs for the wood burner and you can purchase a further supply at £5 per basket. A double sofa bed is available for 2 extra guests for an additional £16 per night.

A beautiful haven, for us & the wildlife. Immaculate & top quality furnishings with lots of thoughtful extras & a lovely welcome tray. The master bedroom was huge & really had the wow factor with comfy bed &. quality bed linen. Wonderful bathroom with big shower & a bath perfect for soaking in, after a long walk, whilst admiring the beautiful views. Lovely friendly owners. Just perfect ! We didn't want to leave.

Mr Colin B,

OMG! OMG! OMG! What a find, stunning cottage, stunning scenery. Just a big thank you to the owners for giving us the opportunity to stay in this place. The cottage is perfection, lovely touches with the welcome pack, furniture etc. just great. Location is second to none, we walked the Torrent Walk, Cader Idris via the pony path then back by the lakes - breathtaking. One day of wind and rain; no problem, just sit in the snug and watched the birds - lovely. Will be telling family and friends. Thank you

Previous Customer,

What a beautiful cottage that provides a home away from home. There was not a single thing that we needed that was not already here. After a very long drive the milk in the fridge and shortbread etc. were a really lovely touch to find on arrival. We were really relaxed here and the bath and bed were very welcome after a long walk. Thank you for providing such a perfect holiday cottage in a beautiful location. We plan on coming back! Emily and Graham - Kent - May 2019

Previous Customer,

This is our second trip here, we stayed back in March and have just booked to come again in August - we love it here. It is so peaceful and quiet which is the antithesis of where we live near Gatwick. Dolgellau is a lovely little town and the views around are wonderful. We spent our time doing really rather little apart from reading and chatting and watching the birds, thing we never have the chance to do at home. We loved the Christmas touches - the decorations and the holly. Also how the cottage has been furnished. A really super cottage - thank you. Also continue to be impressed by Best of Wales - very good customer service. We look forward to seeing the area in summer.
