As featured in Cornwall Life, February 2019, understated seaside opulence awaits your arrival at Fair View. Look outwards for stunning ocean vistas and all around you are heavenly interiors. You’ll be torn whether to stay or explore the shore.

Seaside opulence

The modest stone frontage at Fair View belies the sumptuous interiors and clever conversion of space to provide a truly unique coastal retreat. Perch a while on the driftwood bench on the front terrace and savour the view. Inside you’ll be greeted by an expansive sitting room and dining area with sinfully comfortable sofas. The deep grey of the stairwell and woodwork adds a luxurious warmth to the space you can call home for a while. The modern kitchen space has everything you need for preparing light bites and picnics or the whole kit and kaboodle for a three course dinner. The coffee maker will perk you up perfectly for a day on the beach. From here step out into the stone wall courtyard where you can relax in the afternoon sun or enjoy an al fresco supper making use of the barbecue provided.

The real spectacle is up on the second floor where the loft has been converted into a stunning space with floor to apex windows. The views across to the beach and further around the coastline will woo you to sit and linger. If you can tear yourself away, help yourself to the library of books up here or let the others in on the secret and hunker down in front of the Smart TV with Netflix and watch a movie together as the sun sets in your peripheral vision.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Fair View sleeps four guests in two beautiful bedrooms on the first floor. The master bedroom with its sea views has a super king bed with gorgeous wooden bedhead. The warm greys are carried through up here in the window shutters, ornate wall mirror and old fashioned radiator. The double bedroom across the hall is equally filled with light and calling you to a comfortable night’s sleep. Both bedrooms share an exquisite bathroom with freestanding bath, vast shower and rather impressive wood sculpture.

Beautiful cottage, immaculately decorated and furnished and such a lovely location close to the sea, we loved the harbour town of Porthleven. Stairs in the property are steep and parking is up a steep hill so may not suit those with mobility problems. Excellent communication from Cornish Horizons especially Rachel, broken TV replaced in less than 24 hours.

Mrs H,

Fantastic location although lack of dedicated parking could be an issue in high season as it’s all yellow lines. Kitchen is a joy to cook in, very well equipped and the sheltered patio is lovely. Main bedroom is beautiful and falling asleep to the sound of the sea is wonderful. The attic space is perfect with great views, coffee and a deli treat make it the best space in the house.

Mrs S,

Fantastic holiday cottage in perfect location. The upper floor gives perfect views of the pier and the sea rolling in. Happily spent time just watching that. There are some very steep stairs to the attic room however so need to be aware of in case there are any mobility issues. The cottage has everything you need come rain or shine and the quality of everything in the cottage was excellent. Cottage cleaning adapted to ensure all Covid safe. Location was perfect, right near the harbour and with beautiful walks on your doorstep. Good bus service if you want to explore further afield but don't want to take the car. No parking at cottage but street parking round the corner with no issues taking up resident spots etc. On arrival easy enough to ramp up outside cottage to unload then park up when done.
