Slow down. You’re in rural heaven here. Gaze awhile across the wildlife rich marshes, binoculars at the ready for some fabulous bird-watching. Feel the weather and enjoy living in the moment. Meander to the sea and enjoy fish and chips on the shingle beach.

School House is a simply stunning conversion, deep in the heart of rural beauty and welcoming it all inside through cleverly placed, massive vaulted windows and French doors. Each room has a character of its own, with striking and stylish wallpaper choices defining each space. Your guests will love the sociable yet calm open plan kitchen, sitting and dining room. Cool hues of greys and greens bounce the light, which pours in through the huge windows and bi-fold doors around the house.

You’ll be pleased to find fabulous Neff appliances in the well-stocked kitchen. Catering for a group of six is a doddle, with everything you might need on hand. Huge French doors open wide to let the outside in. Views from the huge garden draw the eye right across the marshes. Allows yourself to daydream as you look far into the distance. Take your pick of two cosy sitting rooms - either in the sociable open-plan area, or as a retreat to the second traditional sitting room with its gorgeously comfy leather sofas and relaxing vibe.

Dunwich is a beautiful historic town on the Suffolk Coast. Visit the Beach Cafe for the best fish and chips in the area, or settle in to the Ship Inn for a cosy afternoon or evening. The area is a paradise for nature-lovers with Dingle Marshes Reserve, Dunwich Heath and Minsmere RSPB close by. Stunning Southwold and Aldeburgh are within 10 miles.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The master bedroom has a view to lie in for, with the marsh-facing wall made entirely of glass, including a Juliette balcony. This huge vaulted window can be pushed wide open to let the fresh air in, while you snuggle up in the faux fur rug. Calming whites and greys characterise the relaxing bedrooms. There’s a bathroom for every bedroom, a must for family life!

We loved the location of the School House. It was close to the coast with many walks direct from the door and plenty of lovely Suffolk towns within 20 miles drive. The house itself was clean and comfortable with amazing views from the rear over a nature reserve. We had an absolutely amazing holiday here.

The School House in Dunwich looked exactly as it does in the pictures on the website. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the laundry facilities were great. For our group of 5 adults, having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms worked really well. It was exceptional value for money. Dunwich is located in an area of the Suffolk coast which is convenient for visiting our relatives, so the location also worked well for us. It was an easy walk to the beach, although the weather was not ideal for that. The location is also great for walking and bird-watching, and there are a lot of nearby seaside towns to visit within an hour’s drive. The tea room at the end of the street was really nice, and we had a great Sunday lunch at the Ship Inn, where they were able to accommodate our family gathering in a private room. Overall, we highly recommend the School House.

We have visited Suffolk and stayed in many different properties . The School House at Dunwich has to be one of the very best cottages we have holidayed in. Very well furnished and equipped with wonderful views, particularly if you enjoy bird watching. The location was convenient with both Dunwich Heath and Minsmere very near and Southwold and Aldeburgh a short drive away. We really enjoyed our stay there.
