Description
Picture this – oodles of space for the two of you in absolute peace and quiet. All supremely comfortable and with the best of outdoor, gastronomic and cultural Suffolk just outside. Surely the perfect rural retreat?
Rural retreat
As soon as you step inside this Suffolk sanctuary it’s hard to believe that all this space flooded with natural light is just for the two of you. Barns are, of course, big and this stylish conversion takes living space for a couple to a whole new level.
Take the open-plan living area downstairs – beautifully styled with just the right balance of natural wood features, white walls and lots of Suffolk sunlight through the picture windows. You’re both spoilt for choice on where to sit back and relax. All candidates are tempting and invitingly cosy, but perhaps the star of the show are the deep settee and armchair, perfectly poised near the quirky feature wood stove.
Upstairs – yes, all this space is really yours – the giant bedroom invites the sleep of kings after, of course, you’ve admired the far-reaching views of the countryside from your private balcony. How’s that for a perfect spot for early morning tea? It’s south-facing too so you’ll catch the sun rising and setting.
And outside, there’s more of the same. Your own private patio, again south-facing with teak furniture for al fresco dining as you gaze over the pastures and farmland on your estate. This too is yours to enjoy. Seek out the 500-year-old oak trees and explore Captain’s Wood, a nature reserve home to deer and a long list of birdlife.
Outdoor activities come into their own with some of the best walking and cycling routes in this part of England on your doorstep. Not to mention a foodie paradise at nearby Orford and Aldeburgh. And if you’d like the rest of them to come along and share your Suffolk sanctuary, Holly House Barn on the same estate sleeps 6.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Marshland Estate Barn sleeps two in a supremely spacious double bedroom with balcony and generously-sized en suite shower room. There’s also a handy cloakroom downstairs.
