Description
Imagine a space so vast that an entire family can lose themselves separately in their own interests without interference or disturbance. All surrounded by the freshest of sea air and without need for a car.
Courtly composure
The Courthouse maybe mock in its Tudor references but it is seriously intentioned in its grandeur. Named after Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie who built nearby Aldeburgh, Ogilvie Hall is imposing inside and out. You can can almost imagine a courtroom of powerful minds bringing this space alive and dictating outcomes that have gone on to influence the Thorpeness we see today. This magnificent building, three storeys in height, welcomes you to sink into the velvety softness of the huge sofa that dominates this space today. The vast floor to ceiling first and second floors present more than a wow factor for arriving guests. The clever use of texture to separate the relaxation area from the functional kitchen and dining spaces is just example of the owners’ considered design approach. Scale the impressive spiral staircase for a mezzanine den bedecked with giant bean bags calling for some gaming time or just some time out from the hubbub below.
Perfectly laid out for large families visiting Thorpeness, there is space for each of you to find your zone and relax while making the most of this impressive holiday home. A pet friendly property, two dogs are welcome too. Step out immediately into the heart of this thriving town, to the beach and to the Meare, a large boating lake with tearooms. Nothing is more than a 5-minute walk away although the dog will likely drag you further afield across myriad footpaths and heathland. Aldeburgh is just 2 miles away northwards, an amenable walk for the whole clan if you can persuade them to earn and burn off their brunch.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
There are four bedrooms occupying the ground floor of the hall with the master suite incorporating an en suite shower room. Two more bedrooms present king size beds while the fourth offers twin beds and they all have use of the large family bathroom with wet room style shower and separate bath.
