Strikingly refurbished school house offering the perfect country retreat for two. Set in rolling Suffolk landscape, this stylish holiday home has panoramic views. Ideal for relaxing or walking the land together with your dog.

Countryside and those vast skies stretch as far as your eyes can see. Perfect for contemplation à deux while you’re lounging on your patio, snuggled up on your plush sofa or soaking long in your roll-top bath.

Scenic Suffolk

Its profile gives a hint of its previous life, but everything else at the Old School House is about the perfect retreat for two. Take the setting for a start – placed deep in the Suffolk countryside at the heart of miles (and miles) of rolling fields. This rural getaway couldn’t be quieter and more at home with nature.

The position makes the most of the views that stretch gloriously ahead in shades of green and yellow, and upwards across those vast skies famous for their light. You’ll be contemplating the vistas from every angle too. All windows in your holiday haven offer stunning views, ever-changing as the light shifts along the day.

Enjoy them from your outside patio where two armchairs wait side by side for you to sit back and relax. Gaze out from the wonderfully plush settee placed perfectly to get the best views and make the most of the warmth from the woodstove. Nod off and wake up to them from your king-size bed, also placed to benefit fully from the views. And the delight of delights, gaze again at the views as you soak luxuriously in the roll-top bath with a little something in hand and contemplate the dusk and first of the stars.

The two of you have more than enough space in the open-plan interior where high ceilings and masses of natural light make the loveliest of spaces. The rustic kitchen comes fully equipped and even the washing-up stops being a chore because the Belfast sink looks out onto, yes, those views.

Should you manage to leave, great walking lies on your doorstep as you explore the views on foot. Perfect for your furry friend; this unique holiday cottage is pet-friendly too. And then at the end of the day, it’s back to your views.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The Old School House has one bedroom with a king-size bed and roll-top bath. Panoramic views through the picture windows are heavenly. There’s also a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Absolutely stunning property in a gorgeous location! We were sad to leave! Furnishings are extremely well done, the bed was super comfortable and the views outside were amazing! There were also a fair few walks nearby including one which we did from the end of the lane. It wasn’t too far a drive to get into town and we were lucky enough to be around on a weekend where a local event was taking place in a nearby field to partake in candy floss and watch a bit of Morris dancing! We will definitely be coming back in future and I’ve already recommended the place to just about everybody who will listen. Thanks for providing a home away from home!

ms D,

Wonderful long weekend at the Old School House. Everything was so comfortable and relaxing, it felt like a much longer trip. Just what we needed to get away from it all and recharge. Thank you so much!

Miss S,

Lovely little place in such a beautiful spot overlooking the countryside and a great abundance of wildlife. Really peaceful all around. We wanted for nothing at the property everything had been catered for would definitely recommend !

Mrs T,

Lovely views from the bed! Nice to be able to open up to the outside.

Mr J,

Fantastic retreat, only 20 mins drive from foodie central Bury st Edmunds. The views over the surrounding fields is undistracted and so peaceful. Kitchen was great for ‘proper’ cooking and a good standard of equipment. Lots of storage, shower very powerful and lovely interior design! Thank you! We’ll be back!

Miss Z,

Property is off the beaten track away from town/cities which is amazing. Can reset yourself & relax without stresses within a day. The view is great & wildlife if visible.

Mr L,

Superb, rural location, with great views, and lots of excellent local pubs, with big, spacious outside dining areas. Lots of interesting places to visit within a 10 mile radius.

Mr A,

Absolutely loved our stay. The house is done to such a high standard and every detail is paid attention to. Our dog loved the open grass in front and made the perfect morning to watch the sunrise with a coffee and for him to potter about. Especially loved the bath with the large windows to gaze out of. Would fully recommend!

Mr T,
