Description

The ultimate in Southwold retreats, Chelsea Villa is awash with style. Step inside the pages of a magazine photoshoot with family and friends for a memorable stay amidst the legacy of great authors.

Poetic splendour

Sumptuously stylish, splendidly finished and indulgently luxurious is this sprawling extravagance of a six bedroom holiday home in seaside Southwold. From its spectacular seafront position, savour every step as you make your way around this heavenly holiday home. Devour the downstairs with its open plan layout as you wander seamlessly from sitting room to snug to kitchen/diner. These sociable areas encourage just that amongst the 14 guests accommodated.

The elegance of the sitting room calls for afternoon tea with friends or a spot of repose with a great novel. The snug will draw the crowds vying for the best seat in the house during a televised tournament or provides sufficient space for a rock ‘n’ roll boogie to a tune from the retro jukebox. Whatever the weather, you’ll want to dine in to make the most of the perfectly proportioned dining tables, inside and out. The kitchen is designed for entertaining, so plan a party before you arrive.

Your every want is served at Chelsea Villa from the deckchairs and crabbing lines ready as you leave via the lobby, to the high spec kitchen and lavish bathrooms, and the impeccably presented bedrooms each named after renowned Victorian authors. Beyond the front door Southwold is at your fingertips. Go in search of the lighthouse visible from one of the upstairs windows. Acquaint yourselves with the glory of the promenade, the golden grains of the beach and the inland trails across the marshes.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Six splendiferous bedrooms welcome guests at Chelsea Villa. Each bedroom and bathroom is named after an author and you’ll be forgiven for thinking you’re in a boutique hotel. The three super king bedrooms on the first floor reference Trollope, Dickens and Gaskell. Two of three have en suite shower rooms with designer features and fittings, although everyone will want to spend some time in the Ashton and Bentley bathroom with its roll top bath, large shower and eye catching Cole & Son wallpaper. On the second floor are two further king size bedrooms in the names of Bronte and Hardy, and a spectacular bunk room with four full size cabin style beds that Lewis Carroll and Alice would be most delighted with and is deserving of its en suite. There is also a family shower room on this level. The rooms are luxuriously dressed from the headboards to the throws, cushions, wallpaper and artwork. The completely L’Occitane toiletries complete the just-a-little-luxury experience.

Reviews

“Chelsea Villa was a truly wonderful way to experience the English seaside in Southwold. We had a group of 11 family members ranging from young children to a grandparent, and everyone found comfort and joy in the house and its surroundings. The back patio is a beautiful spot for dinner and conversation (with a close-up view of Southwold's lighthouse), and we spent many hours there talking and laughing. The beach is just steps from the front door (with breathtaking ocean views from the bedrooms on the front side of the house) where we all played on the sand and in the surf. It's a short walk to the pier, the village shops and restaurants and, of course, the Lord Nelson pub. The stairs to the upper floors are steep, which wasn't an issue for us, and the house is beautifully decorated, which was great for us with the youngest traveler being 8 years old but possibly stress-inducing for families with toddlers (though they had great accommodations such as high chairs and a lovely room with bunk beds). We had a fabulous stay and would recommend Chelsea Villa to anyone traveling with a large group.”
