Description
This fabulous bee-shaped eco haven combines the very best of sustainable building and luxury living. Thrive alongside the native wildlife during your visit and savour the outdoors life in the heart of Kent countryside.
Bee bespoke
High-tech, low impact living awaits at Bumble Barn. Your almost bee-shaped eco-retreat is full of clever sustainable ways and charming interior touches. Technically speaking, this is a passive house using low impact materials and creating a living green roof, incorporating smart air quality sensors and infrared underfloor heating. Enjoyment wise, a north-westerly facing fully glazed end wall invites you to lose yourself in stunning sunsets, and later, in the vast night skies.
Believe it or not, there are three spacious bedrooms inside. Both the living room and the master bedroom enjoy the fabulous floor to ceiling, full-width glazing and doors out onto a terrace. Along the length of the barn, windows are cleverly woven into the curve to keep that Kent light pouring in.
Aside from the views from the living area, the British made sofas also allow you some downtime in front of the TV or a comfy spot to recline with a good book. The beautifully restored dining table another hint at the owners’ mission to respect and savour the materials we have around us - and the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast or supper using some of the treats found at the village store.
Tones of rich red flow through the barn from the sofas and dining chairs to feature walls and throws on the beds. Warm tones of blue and green continue from the kitchen and through the bedrooms while the bathrooms hint at the richness of golden honey and the iconic stripes of British bees.
Spot how the curved design of Bumble Barn mimics the rolling countryside of Kent Downs. This AONB oasis is yours to explore during your stay. From the secluded hamlet of Stelling Minnis along the Roman road between Hythe and Canterbury, you’re superbly located for days out and about in the countryside, at the seaside or in one of the country’s most historic cities. If you bring your bikes, there’s a cycle shed for storing them while you’re here.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Three bedrooms are woven into the curves of this spectacular building. Two twin rooms present plump beds and lush linen within warm coloured walls and sight of the night sky. The master bedroom with a king-size bed celebrates the shape of the building most with its fully glazed end wall and door to patio with bistro table - perfect for the first coffee of the day. It also has an en suite with walk-in rain shower. There is also a bathroom with shower over bath.
