As you feast on your first cream tea and gaze over the verdant orchards, you know you’ve found the perfect retreat. Tranquillity, lovely views and the glorious Cornish coastline on the horizon. Holidays don’t come much better.
This is surely Cornish countryside at its best: miles of verdant farmland and the greenest orchards, all stretching below your terrace. And just on the horizon, the idyllic Praa Sands promise days of fun in the sun.
The Old Dairy delivers on all of these, although you may not get to the beach much once the children in your party discover the farm. Here, it’s all about collecting eggs, feeding the pigs and exploring the fields in search of the playhouse fit for any child’s dream.
Back at your retreat, the stylish conversion rises lofty in glass and wood. Downstairs, you walk into a light and airy hall before climbing the stairs to your open plan living area. Orchard views greet you at every window – step outside onto the terrace for the very best vistas. This will be one of your favourite spots and probably where you’ll enjoy your complimentary cream tea that Cornwall does so very, very well.
Back inside, plump black leather sofas promise utter relaxation and should the Cornish evening come chilly, you’ll be warmed by the cosy wood stove and underfloor heating. The stylish kitchenette stands proud in cream, black and chrome and has everything you need to create a little something using those eggs or apples. Al fresco dining will be popular – on your terrace or back on ground level at the handily placed picnic table, just yards from the orchard and all that farm to be explored.
And then when you do manage to tear the kids away from the delights of the farm, Praa Sands await. Over a mile of golden sands to enjoy with buckets, spades and crab lines plus the waves to ride or just watch as they roll in and out of the bay.

Perfect for a small family. We loved it.Mrs Ruth Jones - 4th November 2018
We had a great week at the Old Dairy despite a mixed weather week. Family of 4 with 2 kids (9 & 7). They loved the open space of the surrounding gardens, the swings and feeding the chickens and Truffles the pig. The Old Dairy was great - has everything you need and like us a great washer/dryer if the weather does turn against you. The location is a peaceful little spot and good location for touring Cornwall. We loved the local harbour Porthleven, which had a great range of restaurants. Kate and Kevin were lovely and passed on lots of tips for places to go the rest of the week. Lovely thought to have cream tea waiting and lollies for the kids too. We would thoroughly recommend staying and wish Kate & Kevin well. The Newell Family - 10th August 2018
We had a fantastic week at the Old Dairy and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was lovely with all the amenities needed to make our stay hassle free and very comfortable. The children really enjoyed the large field and play areas, plus visiting the chickens, ducks and pig. We also saw Pheasants and Rabbits on most days. We were situated within 20 minutes reach of many of attractive spots to visit such as, Porthleven, St Ives – take the coastal train from Lelant to see the views and visit the beach or Tate gallery, the jubilee pool at Penzance plus further afield to The Eden project. Kevin and Kate were very friendly and gave good advice if we had any questions. Thank you very much. - 3rd August 2018
Super accommodation, lovely location, friendly, generous and helpful hosts.Mrs Sarah Wallis - 24th May 2017
The property was beautifully presented, with ample parking. A decent size for four, or excellent facility for a romantic break for two. With a warm welcome from the hosts to show the facilities.Mr J Camp - 20th March 2017
What a wonderful stay in The Old Dairy - a real treat of a week away from it all and enjoying both the relaxation and adventure of Cornwall. From breakfast on the balcony to games in the garden, to seeing the Cornish Man Engine at Godolphin House, it has been non-stop!John, Claire, Ben & Chloe - 5th August 2016
Lovely cottage located in a beautiful location, close to all amenities. Warm reception from the owners, who gave us advice every time we asked. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful break.Valeria Ines - 5th August 2016
Thank you for yet another fabulous holiday at The Old Dairy, our third in a row! Each year as the children have grown we have enjoyed the property even more - feeding the ducks and chickens was a complete hit this time! We hope to see you soon.Andrew, Gemma, Edward & Amelia. - 1st July 2016
Our second visit to The Old Dairy. It's such a great place to stay and fantastic location. We have enjoyed our stay here again and look forward to returning in the future. Our highlights were Church Cove, Kynance Cove...love these beaches, very special; Swanpool (shingle beach) great cafe and mini golf. Cafe serves fantastic ice creams! Maritime Museum and Telegraph museum were also great on rainy days. Thank you.Claire, Jonathan, Esta & Anni. - 17th June 2016
We have had a wonderful week at The Old Dairy and are already planning our return trip! The cottage is beautiful and so well equipped - you really have thought of everything. The boys have really enjoyed exploring this part of Cornwall - The Maritime Museum, Falmouth, St Michael's Mount to name but a few. The view from the top of Godolphin Hill is definitely worth the walk to. Thank you for a fantastic week.Mike, Genevieve, Matty & Jonah - 8th April 2016
Our family has just spent a lovely Easter week at the Old Dairy. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped with easy to use appliances and age appropriate toys and games. There was also lots of outdoor space for children of all ages to run around in and adults to sit and relax. The Old Dairy is ideally located for lots of family days out, whatever the weather or budget. We visited the Eden Project, the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth and Geevor Tin Mine. We also walked up Godolphin hill and along a couple of the many beaches nearby. Kate and Kevin were perfect hosts and we were greeted with a bottle of wine, a cream tea and Easter eggs for the boys. We also took on board their recommendations and found lots of family friendly places to eat with high quality food. We would definitely recommend the Old Dairy to our friends and will be returning ourselves as soon as possible.Caroline Lamsdale - 24th March 2016
The property was very well equipped with good quality towels and bed linen, plenty of kitchen equipment and comfortable beds. Everything was spotlessly clean. We needed heating, being February and this was provided via underfloor heating and a wood burner stove. There was ample hot water at all times. The setting is peaceful and we enjoyed watching the ducks and chickens in the field. We found that although the area is rural, it never seemed to be far from the coast and the towns. Kevin and Kate were gracious and helpful hosts giving us guidance on where to go and what to see. Porthleven is a delightful port and harbour just 10 minutes away. We had very good meals at the Harbour View pub. We would definitely recommend the Old Dairy to friends and family.Joan R - 24th February 2016
