This truly splendid detached cottage offers an idyllic base for a memorable Yorkshire break and boasts beautiful traditional features like beamed ceilings, stone floors and a wood burning stove to cosy up to on an evening. Set in the picturesque village of Huggate, the highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds, which houses one of the deepest wells in England and offers fabulous views across the East Riding of Yorkshire. Many popular walks such as the picturesque Minster Way and Wolds Way National Trail pass through the village and the market towns of Beverley and Pocklington are a short drive away, as is the beautiful city of York. Visit the numerous nearby historic houses and museums including Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall, the Lost Village of Wharram Percy, Kirkham Priory and the Yorkshire Air Museum. There is a lovely local pub located in the village where you can stop for a drink or a bite to eat after a busy day out exploring. Rose Cottage’s large kitchen diner also provides the perfect space to gather with family or friends and cook up a feast on the range cooker. The cottage benefits from 2 cosy lounges; relax by the wood burner with a glass of wine or on sunny days retreat to the conservatory and patio area complete with gas barbecue. Soak up some sunshine whilst chilling out in a deckchair on the lovely enclosed lawn garden. Upstairs the cottage features three bedrooms which have been furnished to a very high standard and boast luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding, traditional feature fireplaces and breath-taking rural views. Both bathrooms are equipped with Temple Spa toiletries and the main family bathroom features a freestanding bath and large walk-in rainfall shower. We ventured south for our traditional Hogmanay celebrations and Rose Cottage proved the perfect venue. Angela comfortably achieved her ambition to create a "home for home" experience. The attention to detail has been outstanding - from informative scrapbook of the local area, to the beautiful hamper that greeted our arrival. Well done to the Nutts for their vision in creating such a lovely cottage from unpromising beginnings. The walk to Fridaythorpe is a nice trek - pity the Farmers Arms is no longer open to revive you at the finish line. Beverly, York, Malton and Helmsley are all worthwhile days out, and you never go hungry at the Wolds Inn. Thank you for a memorable stay. We presume the weather is always this good at this time of year?!The Walker Family - Troon, Ayrshire - 4th January 2019
Christmas at this cottage has been delightful! Angela had made the place warm and welcoming with Christmas decorations throughout. Well equipped and excellent attention to detail in all rooms. So quiet and tranquil with lovely local walks. The Gait Inn at Millington serves wholesome food after a good walk. Beverley and Pocklington good for visits. The beach at Bridlington not too far away and great for the dogs and to shake the Christmas pudding down! We will be back, thank you.John, Jane, Gordon, Jackie (& Meg & Poppy) - 29th December 2018
Wow, wow, wow. We wanted a cottage to stay in about half an hour from York to visit our daughter who is at York Uni, what a find! Beautiful house and location and every need catered for. It has everything you could ever want. We cooked every night and found the kitchen extremely well equipped. The walk from the door to Horse Dale is spectacular. Also enjoyed Market Weighton to Londesborough. The town of Pocklington is very sweet with the Wolds Cafe doing great cakes. Beverley is beautiful and York is amazing. Thank you so much Angela for our welcome goodies and for your great hospitality.Davina, Alan, Blake, Francesca, George & Lily, Guildford, Surrey - 27th October 2018
Thank you so much for a wonderful week in your beautiful cottage! We all absolutely loved it as well as the surrounding area. We shall be in touch as we will definitely be back. Lovely Sunday lunch at The Star in North Dalton, half price steak Tuesdays at Queens Head Hotel in Beverley, Maa Indian Restaurant in Beverley very nice. Millington Woods is a lovely walk and a great day in York. So loads to do and eat. Thanks again!Richard, Julie & Pam, Marske - 12th October 2018
A fantastic cottage in beautiful surroundings, everything was thought through and catered for every need. Having family in Yorkshire the location was perfect, we would highly recommend staying here. Many lovely places to visit within a short drive, including the lovely town Beverley. We would have happily stayed longer! Thank you for letting us stay in this lovely cottage. The Stewarts, Derbyshire - 9th August 2018
Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. We have had a wonderful time. It catered well to our party of 3 generations; my dad and his partner, myself and my daughters. There was nothing missing at all. Everything we needed, we found. Thank you once again. The Valentines and The Phyalls - 27th July 2018
