Reviews

We've had a lovely holiday here at Rose Cottage. It's a lovely house and feels very homely. We spent a day at the Air museum in Elvington which was very interesting, a day at the beach in Hornsea then up to Bridlington for fish & chips and a day in York finishing with the ghost bus tour! We also loved the local walks (as did the dogs!) and the peacefulness of the area was perfect. We feel well rested after our week here and we will definitely recommend it to friends & family. We particularly liked the scrapbook showing the previous restorations and the little touches that made it feel like home - the books to read, DVD's to watch, puzzle books and leaflets about the local area and all of the seating around - we had a room each to relax in! The two TV's also quite handy! Thank you Angela, John (and your son) for a wonderful holiday and a beautiful cottage.

The Walters family,

We've had 4 days here and loved every minute. Each morning I've gone exploring a different compass point and discovered hares, barn owls, rabbits, deer, butterflies uncountable and the ubiquitous sheep. It's been a base from which to attack York, the Driffield Show and Robin Hood's Bay. And, should you feel like treating yourselves then the Fish Cafe in Scarborough was a wonderful surprise. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We'd love to come back!

Leeming Family,

We have really enjoyed staying in Rose Cottage. It has been 'home from home' and suited our needs perfectly. When our mid 20s children joined us for a few days it worked just right so everyone had plenty of space. We enjoyed a somewhat 'chilly' BBQ to celebrate and the weather did warm up by the end of the week. Managed to fit in lots of walks with Pepper (who is very tired now!) as well as a visit to York, Malton, Driffield, Flamborough (to see puffins), Beverley and Hull - it does have some hidden gems and great museums devastated by the war and failing shipping / fishing industries - desperately trying to reinvent itself. Overall a great week, wonderfully presented and equipped house, great location. Beds are the most comfy we've stayed in and all facilities top notch. Thanks again for sharing your cottage and for also 'babysitting' Pepper! Hope to return again!

Bloomfield Family,

It was absolutely lovely, beautifully presented and we were really surprised and pleased by the welcome pack of goodies. Thank you so much for a fabulous stay!

Sarah V,

We have had a lovely short break in this beautiful cottage, we arrived and instantly regretted that we weren't staying longer! We really enjoyed sampling all the treats in the hamper and watching the birds flying around in the morning with a coffee. The cottage was so well stocked, beyond our expectations - as soon as we thought we needed something, we opened a drawers and there it was! We very much hope to return and explore more of the surrounding area. This is without doubt the best cottage we have ever staying in!

Previous Customer,

Exceeded expectations

George - A,

We ventured south for our traditional Hogmanay celebrations and Rose Cottage proved the perfect venue. Angela comfortably achieved her ambition to create a "home for home" experience. The attention to detail has been outstanding - from informative scrapbook of the local area, to the beautiful hamper that greeted our arrival. Well done to the Nutts for their vision in creating such a lovely cottage from unpromising beginnings. The walk to Fridaythorpe is a nice trek - pity the Farmers Arms is no longer open to revive you at the finish line. Beverly, York, Malton and Helmsley are all worthwhile days out, and you never go hungry at the Wolds Inn. Thank you for a memorable stay. We presume the weather is always this good at this time of year?!

Previous Customer,

Christmas at this cottage has been delightful! Angela had made the place warm and welcoming with Christmas decorations throughout. Well equipped and excellent attention to detail in all rooms. So quiet and tranquil with lovely local walks. The Gait Inn at Millington serves wholesome food after a good walk. Beverley and Pocklington good for visits. The beach at Bridlington not too far away and great for the dogs and to shake the Christmas pudding down! We will be back, thank you.

Previous Customer,

Wow, wow, wow. We wanted a cottage to stay in about half an hour from York to visit our daughter who is at York Uni, what a find! Beautiful house and location and every need catered for. It has everything you could ever want. We cooked every night and found the kitchen extremely well equipped. The walk from the door to Horse Dale is spectacular. Also enjoyed Market Weighton to Londesborough. The town of Pocklington is very sweet with the Wolds Cafe doing great cakes. Beverley is beautiful and York is amazing. Thank you so much Angela for our welcome goodies and for your great hospitality.

Previous Customer,

Thank you so much for a wonderful week in your beautiful cottage! We all absolutely loved it as well as the surrounding area. We shall be in touch as we will definitely be back. Lovely Sunday lunch at The Star in North Dalton, half price steak Tuesdays at Queens Head Hotel in Beverley, Maa Indian Restaurant in Beverley very nice. Millington Woods is a lovely walk and a great day in York. So loads to do and eat. Thanks again!

Previous Customer,

A fantastic cottage in beautiful surroundings, everything was thought through and catered for every need. Having family in Yorkshire the location was perfect, we would highly recommend staying here. Many lovely places to visit within a short drive, including the lovely town Beverley. We would have happily stayed longer! Thank you for letting us stay in this lovely cottage.

The Stewarts, D,

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. We have had a wonderful time. It catered well to our party of 3 generations; my dad and his partner, myself and my daughters. There was nothing missing at all. Everything we needed, we found. Thank you once again.

Previous Customer,

The cottage was exceptional, equipped to the highest standard, quiet, comfortable, beautiful gardens. One of the best cottages we have stayed in .

Mr Simon S,

An idyllic cottage, to which we all aspire, nestled into the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds. This really is a fantastic retreat for families and friends alike. You really are spoilt for choice in how to occupy yourselves, be it with public footpaths threading through the rolling hills that surround the village, or the more historic minster of nearby Beverly and wonder of local market towns Pocklington and Driffield, or simply to sit back and relax in the well manicured gardens of the cottage itself to enjoy the sunset and the surrounding vista off towards the East Yorkshire coastline. The local Pub is also very accommodating for those who wish to step back in time and enjoy a pint with the locals and ramblers that frequent it. Overall this is a well equipped, clean and spacious cottage which welcomed us for the weekend and saw to our every need. I envied the next visitors a great deal, as I struggled to lock up and leave this perfect setting to my idea of ‘the Good Life’.
