Reviews

A fabulous house and location. Everything you would need for a short or longer break, including snooker table, hot tub outdoor dining area and garden. Walk to a country pub or dine in the excellent pub/hotel The Plough. So many places to visit from larger towns to old fishing villages. Ruins, castles, quaint inland hamlets, all seemingly with great tea/ coffee shops. Wonderfully furnished and sparkling clean.

Mr G,

An amazing property. Perfect for a family reunion. We really enjoyed our stay.

Dr F,

The property was in a fantastic location, very well equipped and beautifully decorated . Loved my stay and made my special birthday even better

Mrs B,

Fantastic

Mr D,

This house is superb in every way. We chose it for the location and because it has a snooker table where we spent many hours playing. All the rooms are decorated nicely and is well equipped in every way.

Mr G,

This is a lovely property in an excellent location. We all thought the property was beautiful. Lovely village with great café and pubs and a short drive into Scarborough. We would all visit again.

Mrs R,

A Beautiful Property - Absolutely Stunning!! The snooker room and hot tub made the holiday extra special and I have already recommended to Friends and Family. Thank You

Mrs H,

People walked pass our kitchen whilst we were eating breakfast, several times. People staying at the retreat came into our kitchen aswell. The tumble dryer had that much lint in it, it was a fire hazard. The hoover and filter had not been cleaned, there was an error code showing. There were no tongs in the kitchen? The PAT testing was very out of date. The huge grey lamp in the dining room was very loose to the base.

Mrs Evelyn B,

A fantastic property, well looked after with loads of facilities. It was very clean baring in mind this is a good size to maintain. We had a fab time and would love to go back, especially if there was a repeat booking discount. Thanks for a lovely family break.

Mr Rob E,

Absolutely top class place

Mr Andrew J,

The property was outstanding in all respects and exceeded our expectations. Communication was excellent. Easy ‘check in’ and departure. We had one query during our stay and the owner contacted us promptly and gave us the advice we needed. We were sorry to leave.

Mrs Lesley T,

Property surpassed our expectations. Beautifully presented and in the most idyllic situation. Great inventory as nothing I re-call we felt short of. On arriving just the absolute WOW factor. We came during a particularly cold spell but the house always felt warm, cosy and inviting. Although overall cleanliness was exceptional just a couple of minor things to point out although they did not in any way upset us or impact on our stay. There was a packet of mini cheddars behind the radiator in the snooker room and a balloon under the bed in the master suite. Only slight niggle was that there where guests in the other half of the house who had parked inconsiderately and had two vehicles parked bumper to bumper right across our front door which made it a little awkward for us coming in and out of the property. On seeing them we politely mentioned this to them and they moved the cars only for them to be returned the following day. Also although well within their remit to do so they used both front and rear access of their side of the property so crossed in front of our lounge window and our kitchen window which impacted on our privacy. Not your fault but i thought they may have shown some consideration for us as their neighbours.

Miss Linda B,

Phenomenal! Fantastic! Great loaction/ house. Everything catered for that we could possibly need. Hot tub fab.

Past Customer,

Past Customer,

Wonderful Christmas 2022 Beautiful house with all the amenities we could need. Thanks so much for the dceorations, we loved celebrating Christmas here. Visited 'The Plough' for Christmas eve dinner - it was great food

Past Customer,

What a beuatiful house, just perfect for a family weekend celebrating two birthdays. We loved the hot tub and games room, a real bonus. The house has everything you could need and we apprecaited the fluffy bathrobes. Fabulus lunch at The Yew Tree Cafe.

Past Customer,

Description:it implied by the photo a very different house. It didn’t say we only had side bit. When I checked after arrival the house attached their description clearly mentions the portion we had but not vv! However we were still pleased just the initial impression was not accurate

Mrs Penny W,

Church Beck house is absolutely beautiful. We really liked the village of Scalby, had 2 fabulous meals at Yew Tree and The Plough. The house was so well equipped and the beds were super comfortable. The hot tub was fabulous as was the billiard table. Absolutely perfect for a family weekend away.

Mrs Natalie E,

The house was as described and more. We were there for a celebration and the house was really well set up and equipped for this. The only issue we had at the property was the lack of lighting leading to the hot tub and the lack of lighting in the actual hot tub area. When it was dark and wet it was quite treacherous. the owner did bring us a camping light that helped but I think the issue of lighting should be addressed for future guests

Mrs Michelle S,

Was perfect break for our family celebration and get together all noted in the visitor guestbook

Mrs Susan S,

Location

Scalby
Situated on the outskirts of the popular resort of Scarborough, pretty Scalby village makes a tranquil spot to tour the sights of the Yorkshire coastline. With a quaint beck running through the village, it's lovely to explore the village on foot and the two popular local pubs, local store, church and local restaurants are located at the centre of the village or within easy walking distance. There are also tennis courts, a bowling green and playing fields to be found here, ideal for cricket or football on an evening. A regular bus service links you to Scarborough while the 'cinder track' (where the old railway used to run) connects you to the popular town of Whitby further up the coast which can be enjoyed on foot or by bike with some breathtaking coastal views along the way.
