When was the last time you truly felt at peace? In this beautiful hideaway in the Welsh hills, tranquillity is waiting to envelop your soul and leave you feeling recharged.
Leave your worries behind
Arrive at this modern yet traditional cottage in the Brecon Beacons, and you’ll have already driven through miles of tree-lined valleys and hills. Perched on the banks of the River Wye and accessed by a private track from the road, this is a house that simultaneously feels a million miles away and right in the heart of the action. Please note, parties such as stag and hens are not permitted at this property.
Relax in the open gardens or on the generous patio area. At dawn, yoga lovers will spread out mats on the veranda to greet the sun with open arms. Mornings are best spent in the cool air of the magical woodlands in every direction, searching for spring flowers or colourful fungi. In the afternoons, there is a full barbecue to enjoy, and you’ll instinctively gather around the fire pit come the evening.
Inside the house is just as relaxing. Neutral tones carry the calming vibe between living areas, with dual wood-burning stoves crackling gently and casting warm, flickering light across the rooms. The kitchen is elegant and contemporary, with nods to tradition like the natural stone hearth, slate floor and electric Aga. Green oak beams and mantlepieces are a repeating motif here and in the lounge, where elegant sofas sit in front of windows that flood the room with natural light. The bedrooms are comfortable and practical, with chic panelling behind the headboards.
Head upriver to explore the Brecon Beacons in all their glory, where the Wye is gently swelled by its many tributaries. There is golf, fishing and horse riding on your doorstep, or you might decide to hire canoes and float gently, gently down the stream. Moor up at Hay-on-Wye for a browse around the bookshops over lunch.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms at Rocks Cottage. The bedrooms each have king-sized beds with luxurious White Company linens, and an en suite with a large rainfall shower.
Absolutely wonderful house - secluded but not completely out in the sticks. Excellently equipped with everything one needs - ample space. Very comfortable. This is now the second time we have visited - once in the summer where the garden was just perfect to rest and sunbathe, now in the winter where the cosy living room is lovely to retire to after a day full of activities. Really love the little touches - we celebrated a birthday and had happy birthday banners and deco, also welsh cakes and haribos as welcome (including milk in the fridge!). Tea present, sugar there, some coffee capsules for the coffee maker - thanks! Only thing to be improved - sun loungers for outside - even in the winter could wrap up and sit in the sunshine...... Perfect place to spend a wonderful holiday!
“Thank you. The property was truly fantastic. All we could want or need. A special place”
This cottage is situated in a rural location adjacent to the river but within easy access to town and it’s amenities. The cottage was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Centrally located for Brecon Beacons and Elan Valley in particular. Would not hesitate to recommend (in fact I’ve already done so!!!!)
Excellent property situated next to river Wye, decorated to a really high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our river walks and relaxing in comfortable surroundings
Fabulously stylish. Amazingly comfortable bed and great shower. Lovely kitchen and main room. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.
The feeling of utter relaxation when stepping out of car. Views and sound of the River Wye awesome.
Rocks Cottage was simply perfect. The quality of finish and furnishing is A*. It's one of the best appointed cottages we've had the privilege to stay in. Added bonus was the electric car charging point.
Rocks Cottage is a luxury cottage set in a very peaceful location beside the river. It is beautifully appointed throughout and is a lovely retreat to return to each day.
We recently stayed at Rocks Cottage and had a wonderful week. The cottage is in a fantastic location next to the River Wye with fly fishing available, a real bonus. The cottage is equipped to a very high standard and living areas are very comfortable. The cottage is so peaceful yet within easy reach of facilities in Builth Wells and near to attractions.
Excellent cottage - perfect location, very quiet, outstanding furnishing - we absolutely loved our little get-away! Everything that is needed was there - even a BBQ! Sunloungers would have been the icing on the cake - but admittedly the weather we had was rather unusual ….. thanks so much we will be back
We loved our stay at Rocks Cottage, the location was beautiful with scenic views all around. Being so close to the river was a bonus as well! The cleanliness of the cottage was spot on, with comfortable beds to enjoy after a long day of cycling/hiking. Definitely recommend a visit.
Excellent cottage in a beautiful area of Wales. Definitely 5 stars ⭐️
