Description
When was the last time you truly felt at peace? In this beautiful hideaway in the Welsh hills, tranquillity is waiting to envelop your soul and leave you feeling recharged.
Leave your worries behind
Arrive at this modern yet traditional cottage in the Brecon Beacons, and you’ll have already driven through miles of tree-lined valleys and hills. Perched on the banks of the River Wye and accessed by a private track from the road, this is a house that simultaneously feels a million miles away and right in the heart of the action. Please note, parties such as stag and hens are not permitted at this property.
Relax in the open gardens or on the generous patio area. At dawn, yoga lovers will spread out mats on the veranda to greet the sun with open arms. Mornings are best spent in the cool air of the magical woodlands in every direction, searching for spring flowers or colourful fungi. In the afternoons, there is a full barbecue to enjoy, and you’ll instinctively gather around the fire pit come the evening.
Inside the house is just as relaxing. Neutral tones carry the calming vibe between living areas, with dual wood-burning stoves crackling gently and casting warm, flickering light across the rooms. The kitchen is elegant and contemporary, with nods to tradition like the natural stone hearth, slate floor and electric Aga. Green oak beams and mantlepieces are a repeating motif here and in the lounge, where elegant sofas sit in front of windows that flood the room with natural light. The bedrooms are comfortable and practical, with chic panelling behind the headboards.
Head upriver to explore the Brecon Beacons in all their glory, where the Wye is gently swelled by its many tributaries. There is golf, fishing and horse riding on your doorstep, or you might decide to hire canoes and float gently, gently down the stream. Moor up at Hay-on-Wye for a browse around the bookshops over lunch.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms at Rocks Cottage. The bedrooms each have king-sized beds with luxurious White Company linens, and an en suite with a large rainfall shower.
