Description

When was the last time you truly felt at peace? In this beautiful hideaway in the Welsh hills, tranquillity is waiting to envelop your soul and leave you feeling recharged.

Leave your worries behind

Arrive at this modern yet traditional cottage in the Brecon Beacons, and you’ll have already driven through miles of tree-lined valleys and hills. Perched on the banks of the River Wye and accessed by a private track from the road, this is a house that simultaneously feels a million miles away and right in the heart of the action. Please note, parties such as stag and hens are not permitted at this property.

Relax in the open gardens or on the generous patio area. At dawn, yoga lovers will spread out mats on the veranda to greet the sun with open arms. Mornings are best spent in the cool air of the magical woodlands in every direction, searching for spring flowers or colourful fungi. In the afternoons, there is a full barbecue to enjoy, and you’ll instinctively gather around the fire pit come the evening.

Inside the house is just as relaxing. Neutral tones carry the calming vibe between living areas, with dual wood-burning stoves crackling gently and casting warm, flickering light across the rooms. The kitchen is elegant and contemporary, with nods to tradition like the natural stone hearth, slate floor and electric Aga. Green oak beams and mantlepieces are a repeating motif here and in the lounge, where elegant sofas sit in front of windows that flood the room with natural light. The bedrooms are comfortable and practical, with chic panelling behind the headboards.

Head upriver to explore the Brecon Beacons in all their glory, where the Wye is gently swelled by its many tributaries. There is golf, fishing and horse riding on your doorstep, or you might decide to hire canoes and float gently, gently down the stream. Moor up at Hay-on-Wye for a browse around the bookshops over lunch.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms at Rocks Cottage. The bedrooms each have king-sized beds with luxurious White Company linens, and an en suite with a large rainfall shower.

Reviews

Beautiful accommodation sitting on the River Wye. Easy walk into Builth Wells and not far from Elan Valley.

Mrs H,

Superb location with the cottage clearly being a high end property. Only a mile and a half from the town down a gated private roadway some 300 yards to the (again gated) entrance to the cottage grounds. The perfect place for a relaxing week. We were fortunate with weather so did not venture far other than walking along the banks of the River Wye which is right alongside the property. If we wanted to go further afield there were multiple options to chose from. I would certainly highly recommend Rocks Cottage as it was just about perfect for our needs

Mr G,

This is a beautifully located & cosy accomodation. Would recommend.

Mrs D,

This was probably the most immaculate property I have ever rented, it was absolutely spotless, above and beyond. The beds were super comfortable, everything cosy and warm. We will return.

Mr K,

This is a delightful cottage in a wonderful location. Well designed and equipped with everything you could want. A great base for exploring mid-Wales and enjoying peace and quiet.

Mr T,

Perfect Cottage in a beautiful location, ideal for a relaxing holiday, already booked for our third visit.

Mr S,

Peaceful, comfy cottage with fab views and outside areas. Great en-suites, sofas, woodburners and kitchen. Restful and restorative. PS great doors and windows.

Ms W,

We loved watching and listening to all the birds, and it was great being able to walk straight from the door. It was a very easy, comfortable cottage to be in.

Dr W,

Excellent quiet location but easy walking distance to amenities.

Mrs B,

Rocks cottage is a superb property in a lovely setting. It is very comfortable with two lovely bedrooms with smart shower rooms. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of cooking dishes and smart crockery. The owners put up a Christmas tree and some extra lights, so we felt festive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful property.
