Description

When was the last time you truly felt at peace? In this beautiful hideaway in the Welsh hills, tranquillity is waiting to envelop your soul and leave you feeling recharged.

Leave your worries behind

Arrive at this modern yet traditional cottage in the Brecon Beacons, and you’ll have already driven through miles of tree-lined valleys and hills. Perched on the banks of the River Wye and accessed by a private track from the road, this is a house that simultaneously feels a million miles away and right in the heart of the action. Please note, parties such as stag and hens are not permitted at this property.

Relax in the open gardens or on the generous patio area. At dawn, yoga lovers will spread out mats on the veranda to greet the sun with open arms. Mornings are best spent in the cool air of the magical woodlands in every direction, searching for spring flowers or colourful fungi. In the afternoons, there is a full barbecue to enjoy, and you’ll instinctively gather around the fire pit come the evening.

Inside the house is just as relaxing. Neutral tones carry the calming vibe between living areas, with dual wood-burning stoves crackling gently and casting warm, flickering light across the rooms. The kitchen is elegant and contemporary, with nods to tradition like the natural stone hearth, slate floor and electric Aga. Green oak beams and mantlepieces are a repeating motif here and in the lounge, where elegant sofas sit in front of windows that flood the room with natural light. The bedrooms are comfortable and practical, with chic panelling behind the headboards.

Head upriver to explore the Brecon Beacons in all their glory, where the Wye is gently swelled by its many tributaries. There is golf, fishing and horse riding on your doorstep, or you might decide to hire canoes and float gently, gently down the stream. Moor up at Hay-on-Wye for a browse around the bookshops over lunch.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms at Rocks Cottage. The bedrooms each have king-sized beds with luxurious White Company linens, and an en suite with a large rainfall shower.

Reviews

Excellent quiet location but easy walking distance to amenities.

Mrs B,

Rocks cottage is a superb property in a lovely setting. It is very comfortable with two lovely bedrooms with smart shower rooms. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of cooking dishes and smart crockery. The owners put up a Christmas tree and some extra lights, so we felt festive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful property.

Mrs R,

A high quality property in a peaceful but not isolated location. Lovely walks along the river right from the door! Great for two couples. Recommend visiting the Elan Valley dams and the Brecon Beacons National Park visitor centre at Libanus.

Previous Customer,

A very good holiday all at a very hight standard in cottage

Mr S. M,

Excellent property , decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Ease walk in to the town which is a delight. The outside furniture is one of the most comfortable sets we have had. The location next to the river Wye is so very scenic and the rocks in river make it fast flowing , hence the cottage name. The house keeper was most helpful

Mr C,

Rocks Cottage is a gorgeous place to stay, decorated and appointed to a high standard. We had a wonderful few days there, enjoying the river, the birdsong and beautiful surroundings, the easy walk along the river into town. Couldn't be better!

Mrs Mary G,

Rocks Cottage is by far the best cottage we have ever stayed in and the location by the river is just amazing, we will be back.

Mr Keith S,

Rocks Cottage was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and a wonderful place to relax before Christmas

Mr Alexander Z,

Beautiful property and location

Ms Lisa M,

Great location. Flowers and milk on arrival nice touch. Kitchen lacks equipment. For example no baking trays that fit in smaller oven. Only one baking tray for larger oven. No large tumblers. It’s a shame because they spent thousands on the build and then missed the smaller details. Also suggest they include a better guestbook which explains a little about the cottage and it’s location and perhaps the work recently undertaken to refurbish it.

Mr Ben S,
