Description
Set off a quiet, winding road, high on the hill overlooking the valley, Foel Fach is secluded and has a quietness about it that belies the area’s rich history. Capturing all that is welcoming and warm about Wales, this endearing self-catering cottage is a great place for family and friends to reconnect.
Steeped in time and tradition
Featuring double-height exposed stone walls, slate floors, deep windows, and inglenook fireplaces in both the living room and dining room, Foel Fach is both bold and stylishly simple. And yet this simplicity is clearly well-chosen: and in an area bursting with Roman forts, hiking and mountain biking trails, and stories of rebel sons and princes, Foel Fach’s uncomplicated style becomes an embodiment of this traditional and rich legacy. What’s more is that the cosy seating, the fully-equipped kitchen, and the underfloor heating guarantee that this apparent lack of pretension has come at no cost whatsoever to comfort.
After a day of exploring, the beautiful dining room table is a great place to gather and rehash the day’s adventures. Or why not open a nice bottle of wine and have drinks and dine al fresco? Through the French doors in the living room, the cottage boasts a hospitably furnished patio with commanding views over the valley, and no better way to end the day
Bedrooms and bathrooms
In keeping with its rich sense of time, pride, and tradition, the master bedroom features prints by the local artist Ian Phillips as well as a beautiful, king-size iron-and-brass bed. After that, the double room offers more prints by Ian Phillips as well as a fantastic view over the valley. The single room also shares this view, and all three rooms share the use of the family bathroom with WC. For further convenience, there is a shower room with WC on the ground floor.
Practicalities
There is plenty of space for parking. A council maintained tarmac road most of the way to the cottage, thereafter it is a very well maintained hard level road with no potholes
A starter basket of logs is provided for your stay. Additional logs are available at £5 per basket. We can provide a high chair and travel cot, but ask that you please request these on booking and that you bring your own mattress and linen for the cot. We also ask that you bring your own charcoal for the barbeque. There is plenty of space for parking.
Special Note: If your stay is a special occasion, please let us know so that we can include an extra surprise on arrival. Please let us also know the age of any children in your party. Tesco home delivery is available at the property.
