Description
A picture-perfect, restored thatched cottage overlooking a private lake and woodlands. Formerly gamekeeper’s lodgings, the cottage has been beautifully renovated with a modern, contemporary edge and is equipped to a high standard. There are views over the lake from the sitting room, dining room and two of the bedrooms, so you can laze in bed in the mornings and watch nature unfold in front of you. The owners have also set aside some marked trails in the woods to explore and there is access to an indoor swimming pool too, making this a fabulous holiday retreat. If you can bear to tear yourselves away, the cottage is close to The Broads network, the cultural city of Norwich and a short drive to the wide, open sandy beaches of the east coast. The lush countryside in and around Hemblington is a joy to discover, with walks from the doorstep and in nearby Burlingham Woods. The area is also good cycling country and the RSPB nature reserve at Strumpshaw Fen is close at hand for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike. The Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden Trust at South Walsham makes for a lovely day out and The Broads network is on the doorstep for river trips, canoeing, kayaking and nature trails. Whilst here jump on the Bure Valley railway for a steam train journey that will take you from Wroxham to the lovely Georgian market town of Aylsham. On your way to discover the cultural delights of Norwich, just 8.5 miles away, why not drop in to sample some award winning wine at the Winbirri Vineyards at Surlingham. Norwich itself is a great city to explore with a castle, two cathedrals, the Norfolk Regimental Museum, historic riverside pubs, great restaurants and café culture and a little retail therapy is always on the cards here too! The east coast beaches are within easy reach and Winterton-on-Sea allows dogs on the beach year round if you are holidaying with your four-legged friends. There is plenty to do in the area and one visit will probably turn in to the first of many more.
