Description

In an area dating back to the Norman conquest, The Old Cart Lodge in the Norfolk Broads is ideally situated for families and friends wanting to explore historic sights and natural beauty, all within easy reach of the vibrant city of Norwich.

Peaceful simplicity

Simplicity and comfort are the rules at this sympathetically refurbished self-catering barn. Boasting an elegant open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting area, and framed with a feature brick wall, beamed cathedral ceiling, and bi-fold windows out to the patio and hot tub, The Old Cart Lodge combines a tasteful mix of traditional charm and modern ease. Further benefiting from plush sofas in the sitting area, and delightfully decorated little nooks and crannies throughout the house, this luxury self-catering getaway accentuates its character through an unpretentious sense of style.

Enjoy cups of coffee and easy mornings at the rustic dining room table. After a day exploring the area on foot or by bicycle, the fully-equipped kitchen is a great place to put together a light snack or even cook a hearty meal for some al fresco dining on the patio. Then, when the stars are out and the children are in bed, pour yourself a nice glass of wine and slip into the hot tub for a romantic wind-down to your day.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Past the open-plan area of The Old Cart Lodge, the king-size master suite enjoys a high, beamed ceiling, bright views, and an en-suite shower room with WC. Next, there is a twin room for the children or other guests, with more bright views and a comfortable rattan chair for much-needed solitude, and peaceful reading in the mornings. In addition to the en-suite shower room in the master suite, guests have access to a family bathroom with WC.

Practicalities

We welcome one well-behaved dog. Bathrobes are provided. A tumble dryer is available for use if required. Mobile phone reception is variable.

Reviews

Old Cart Lodge was very home from home with so many little touches that made the place - ideal. The hosts were charming and location just right to be away from it all but close enough to explore.

Mr C,

Fabulous week in this very attractive lodge, beautifully equipped! We've booked to go again next year!

Mrs W,

A delightful place to stay with comprehensive facilities with a very helpful and friendly property owner.

Mr P,

The Cart Lodge felt loved, it was stylish, homely and comfortable. We enjoyed the local walks and lunch at the local pubs, and just relaxed, we would highly recommend it.

Mrs B,

A lovely week away in a stunning property. Spotlessly clean, well-equipped and beautifully presented. Hot tub, lemon drizzle and a bottle or 2 of wine - what more could you want for a holiday! Thank you for being so hospitable. We hope to return one day.

Previous Customer,

Thank you so much ! We have had such a lovely rest in your beautiful cart lodge while our house is being renovated - everyone is sad to go, especially to leave the hot tub. Best lemon drizzle ever too.

Keith G,

What a lovely cottage I chose for my 50th birthday. Despite the storm on arrival and departure the weather was mostly nice and sunny. For exceptional vegetarian dining try Benedict's and Roger Hickmann's in Norwich. We loved seal watching at Horsey Gap, bird watching at Holkham National Nature Reserve and the cream tea at the orangery at Ketteringham Hall. We take so many lovely memories with us ! Hope to be back soon.
