Description

In an area dating back to the Norman conquest, The Old Cart Lodge in the Norfolk Broads is ideally situated for families and friends wanting to explore historic sights and natural beauty, all within easy reach of the vibrant city of Norwich.

Peaceful simplicity

Simplicity and comfort are the rules at this sympathetically refurbished self-catering barn. Boasting an elegant open-plan kitchen, dining, and sitting area, and framed with a feature brick wall, beamed cathedral ceiling, and bi-fold windows out to the patio and hot tub, The Old Cart Lodge combines a tasteful mix of traditional charm and modern ease. Further benefiting from plush sofas in the sitting area, and delightfully decorated little nooks and crannies throughout the house, this luxury self-catering getaway accentuates its character through an unpretentious sense of style.

Enjoy cups of coffee and easy mornings at the rustic dining room table. After a day exploring the area on foot or by bicycle, the fully-equipped kitchen is a great place to put together a light snack or even cook a hearty meal for some al fresco dining on the patio. Then, when the stars are out and the children are in bed, pour yourself a nice glass of wine and slip into the hot tub for a romantic wind-down to your day.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Past the open-plan area of The Old Cart Lodge, the king-size master suite enjoys a high, beamed ceiling, bright views, and an en-suite shower room with WC. Next, there is a twin room for the children or other guests, with more bright views and a comfortable rattan chair for much-needed solitude, and peaceful reading in the mornings. In addition to the en-suite shower room in the master suite, guests have access to a family bathroom with WC.

Practicalities

We welcome two well-behaved dogs, treats/blankets available. Bathrobes are provided. A tumble dryer is available for use if required. Mobile phone reception is variable.  No EV charging unless agreed with owner in advance

Reviews

We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful time. The cabin was beautiful, and so spacious - even bigger and better than it looks from the photos. It had everything we needed for our stay. Paying more for the hot tub was a bonus and well worth it. It was a great size and we went in it each night under the fairy lights. We would love to come back in the summer. Communication from the host was great, and check in and check out was an easy process. I would highly recommend and we are already looking to come back.

Miss M,

The cottage was warm (under floor heating throughout) and very tastefully decorated. Comfortable, with everything we needed for a weekend. The hot tub was wonderful - a perfect addition for 4 friends relaxing!

Mrs M,

Booking and payment straightforward. The property itself exceeded expectations in every sense. The property owners were very friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault a thing.

Miss Fiona B,

The property was exactly as described. Pet friendly for our dog. Jenny and Lloyd were very friendly and knowledgable on places to visit and to eat. Equipment and facilities excellent even down to the provision of robes for using the hot tub

Mr H,

We had a wonderful week at the Old Cart Lodge. The owners were lovely and happy to share tips on places to visit and eat out. We received helpful information from them before we arrived which helped us with the our arrival and settling in. We were very impressed with the cottage. It was spacious and comfortable, furnished to a high standard and impeccably clean. There was a welcome pack waiting for us which included a delicious homemade lemon cake. The location of the property was great for access to the Norfolk Broads. The coast was only 30 minutes away and Norwich was easily accessible on the days when the weather wasn't so great. Altogether we had a wonderful week. We'll definitely be returning again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

Mr N,

Wonderful property, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Superb welcoming friendly hosts.

Mrs M,

Stunning property, everything needed was included. Hosts went above & beyond providing milk, coffee, tea, sugar and even left cake and chocolates for us to enjoy. Great location, nice for local walks but also close driving distant to get to some bigger locations. Really felt like a home from home - cosy vibe, would stay again and recommend to friends & family.

Miss P,

Beautiful place we will return, pet and child friendly. Owner could not have been accommodating.
