Expectations for romantic dog walks set a whole new standard here. The stately sprawl of the Holkham Estate is your domain. One of the Estate lodges is your one of a kind bolthole. Hunker down.
Sink in to this oasis of calm and romance. Quite literally, between the crisp white sheets of your super king size bed, in your subterranean bedroom, you’ll be wrapped in cosiness and splendour. Palmers Lodge is a lovers’ retreat that you’ll never want to leave.
Step inside and you’ll be struck immediately by the expanse of your living area. Look up through the beams and exposed brick of the chimney to your vaulted ceiling. Restrain yourself just for a moment from skipping on to the most sumptuous of Chesterfield sofas with ample cushion collection. Look around a little and you’ll spot the essentials for making a brew and breakfast. Everything else discouraging you from putting in too much effort on the catering front while you’re here - there’s a microwave, if you must. Although we too want to make use of those adorable cross-back chairs at some point. It’ll have be over a cuppa for now.
Wind your way down the stairs. Here the exceptional glass lantern over the atrium lets the light pour in and leads to your bolthole’s boudoir. Cleverly created rooms within these once vaulted cellars offer surprise after surprise. The bed is even more comfortable than it looks. All that’s left to do is walk or cycle up an exhaustion level and enjoy it.
Put just the two of you first for a while and do it here. Bring your canine best friend(s) along too because quite simply you’d regret not doing so once you step out your door and explore the parkland and beyond. Discover just how pet friendly Norfolk is as the woodland and trails lead you in to the Holkham village, The Burnhams and on to Wells-next-the-Sea. Holkham’s Victoria Inn upholds a reputation for good food and the warmest of welcomes - it could become your new favourite local.
Bedroom and bathroom
On the lower ground floor you’ll find a master bedroom with super king size bed. The en suite provides a heavenly shower experience.
What a fantastic spot for exploring North Norfolk Coast. We loved staying in this beautiful lodge, it's so relaxing and surrounded by so much wildlife - we saw Roe Deer, Muntjac and loads of hares! It's deceptively so spacious for 2 people & the snug cinema was a nice surprise too! We also loved all the goodies in the Welcome Hamper. Some highlights for us have been: Hiring bikes and cycling around the estate, Walks from Holkham Beach!
Perfect - Thank you
Birthday and Valentine treat! We were led here but an owl along the tree lined drive, who serenaded us every night. Survived storm Dennis, although it did get loud at times out there! Very relaxing weekend, very romantic setting, just beautiful. Thank you
Our third stay here! As fantastic and peaceful as ever! A paradise location!
What a stay! Loved the peace and quiet, loved the fire, loved the hamper of goodies on arrival! A great weekend!!
We got married at Holkham Hall and then checked into Palmers Lodge for a few days of relaxation. We couldn't have picked a better place to start our married life - loved everything about it, from the comfy sofa and log burner to the board games and wildlife outside the window. Our dog was absolutely in his element too! Thank you for a wonderful stay that we will never forget.
Just to say that we loved staying at Palmers Lodge and were sorry to have to leave. Above all it was such a pleasure to be staying in an interesting property in such a wonderful setting - we have had a lot going on at home and staying there provided us with just the peace and tranquillity that we needed. Also, so importantly, the bed was really comfortable, the sofa was comfy with lots of lovely rugs and there was a good level of heating and sufficient hot water.
