Description
Bright and sleek, this luxury self-catering barn conversion blends a Scandi-inspired design and furnishings with traditional Norfolk charm. Located between the town of Holt and the coastal village of Cley, Bixes Barn shares the same grounds as its sister property Taylors Barn, making it a great place for larger group holidays with the right amount of privacy.
Elegance in contrast
Bixes Barn exudes the cool sophistication of a slick, contemporary home firmly grounded in its roots. Using an exposed brick wall to both highlight and contrast the barn’s thematic white, the fixtures take this playful juxtaposition further with a tan wood floor, varying shades of grey in the modish furnishings and countertops, a stunning, black wood burner in the corner of the sitting room area, and a black entertainment centre. Flooding this wonderful balance with natural light is a full-length window, and the result is an incredibly stylish and cosy retreat.
Just a short drive to the north is the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the village of Cley and its famous Towermill and marshes. Farther east are the beaches and towns of Sheringham and Cromer, and just to the south is the Georgian town of Holt, where visitors can wander fashion boutiques, and art and antique galleries. After a full day out, Bixes Barn’s greatest feature may just be its open-plan layout. While the children play out on the swing and slide, or in the separate games room, the grown-ups can chat and wind down, and put together a quick meal. Then, if the weather is right, call the kids back and dine al fresco on the front patio. Later, pull the cork on a nice bottle of red and cosy up in the warm luxury of the sitting room.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
Featuring the same sleek design, the super-king master suite boasts creamy yellow and grey against a trendy dark brown bed frame and armchair. The master suite further benefits from an en-suite bathroom with WC. Next is a twin room, followed by a single room. The single room has a pull-out trundle bed with legs, so as to accommodate larger groups and families. As Bixes Barn is sprawled out over one floor, there is the added convenience of a family bathroom.
Practicalities
We welcome one large dog. A starter pack of fuel for the wood burner is provided. We can provide a travel cot and high chair if required. If you have young children, they should be supervised whilst playing in the woodland play area and on the play equipment.
