Description
A stunning stone barn conversion with a wonderful countryside and estuary view, situated in a rural area yet only a short drive from Padstow and several beaches. Situated in the idyllic little hamlet of Higher Halwyn, the property is close to the Camel Trail, a former railway track which offers a lovely car-free 3-mile walk into the thriving harbour town of Padstow. This peaceful retreat at Higher Halwyn is tucked right away from it all but a 10-15 minute drive will take you to Padstow, Wadebridge and several golden sandy beaches. It is on the edge of a small hamlet of similar dwellings found along a quiet farm lane leading down to the Camel estuary and in the other direction to the village of St. Issey and two public houses. The Camel Trail, just down the lane, follows the route of the old railway line between Padstow and Bodmin and is much loved by walkers and cyclists (bikes may be hired at Padstow or Wadebridge). The path wends its way alongside the riverbank through this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with its abundant wildlife of all kinds.
Entering this fresh and welcoming property the spacious, light-filled open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features wooden beams in the high vaulted ceiling, stone flooring, and patio doors looking out onto the garden. The cosy lounge has a Smart TV and Blu-ray DVD, providing a great spot to unwind and watch a movie. The central dining space is perfect for getting together to plan the next day’s activities or for sharing a fantastic meal. With a wide range of equipment, the stylishly designed kitchen is perfect for rusting up a variety of fabulous dishes. At the end of the day there are three cosy bedrooms to choose between. The first is a lovely super-king-size room with a vaulted ceiling and a useful en-suite shower room. This room also has a TV and DVD and a charming seating space so you can enjoy the country views through the patio doors. The two other bedrooms are a charming twin room and a delightful king-size room, both decorated in light relaxing shades. The property is rounded off with a handy family bathroom.
Outside, there are a couple of patio areas with seating, offering a choice of spaces to enjoy a morning coffee and take in the far-reaching views. The large enclosed garden has a decked area providing an ideal spot to dine alfresco. A few steps lead up onto the lawn which has a slide, climbing frame and swing for younger guests.
Location
Padstow is arguably now one of the best-known of Cornwall's holiday destinations - a working harbour still retaining the character of the fishing industry while also managing to reinvent itself as a modern holiday destination. Padstow has so much to offer the discerning holiday maker, with several beaches along the Camel Estuary, where you can also have a go at a range of water sports such as sailing and windsurfing, as well as a variety of boat trips such as fishing excursions, speedboat rides, sea-life safaris and the ever popular Jubilee Queen. You can indulge your passion for food at an excellent selection of restaurants in the town, which is now the base for a number of celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth. If you're looking for more active pursuits, you can cycle the Camel Trail, the route of the old railway line running between Padstow and Bodmin. If walking is more your thing, there are many walking trails and routes waiting to be discovered, and if you're bringing a dog, there are plenty of dog-friendly places to explore. Gaining popularity in recent years is the Padstow Christmas Festival, now spread over four days, with cookery demonstrations, food and craft market, and entertainment.
