Seriously relaxed

This stunning home in one of the most beautiful spots on the North Devon coastline has been utterly transformed into a luxury rental for large groups. You’ll be awed by the breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, Watermouth Castle and the cliffs from a brand new level. The outdoor area is complete with viewing gallery, safari style balcony and garden room.

Picture windows in the huge, superbly well equipped L-shaped kitchen, sitting and dining room just allow you to sink into the views. Perhaps you’ll venture out onto the wraparound balcony terrace for an al fresco breakfast with a dose of Vitamin D. The newly built viewing gallery is also on this floor. Stop here a while and take in the ever changing scenery - admittedly you may have to be drawn away from its beauty.

Outside you’ll be sure to enjoy a splash in the large heated swimming pool. Who can resist a swim, surrounded as you are by such stunning scenery yet secluded and private at the same time? The garden has a spacious paved area with a thatched garden room for outdoor entertaining when the weather turns. Inside, you’re encouraged to take your pick of challenge - is it going to be a pool championship or table tennis today?

Snuggled between Berrynarbor and Ilfracombe, you’ll be hard pushed to leave this place, but when you do there’s so much to explore. Take your camera to capture the lovely colourful boats and rock pools of sheltered Watermouth Cove. Watermouth Castle and the Dinosaur and Wildlife Park are fab days out for the family, and Exmoor National Park is just down the road. Ilfracombe itself is packed with Victorian history and modern art.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Swing open the doors from the super king bedroom on to the terrace! You have arrived! There are five other bedrooms too, super kings, twins and a king with TV built into the bed. The family bathroom is pure indulgence with deluxe Jacuzzi spa bath, WiFi and mood lighting. Heated outdoor pool available( heated and available from 24th May to 27th September 2024)

Stunning house in a great location. Beautiful views. Nice & quiet. Great house for our family for a birthday weekend. Plenty of spaces in the house for when the weather isn’t so kind and you can’t use the wealth of outdoor space available. Lots of good places to eat & drink in the area, particularly if you head back inland to avoid the more popular tourist areas.

A beautifully located comfortable property with a totally modern feel, furnished to the highest standard and equipped with good quantities of bedding and eating utensils for many guests. There was an enormous amount of space for the nine guests we had, together with numerous places to split and chill. The multiple outdoor balconies gave interesting views with additional comfortable furniture, and the outdoor eating areas were truly spacious. We were unfortunately outside the season for the outdoor pool.

Whimbrels is a fabulous property. We, 6 couples and long time friends, have rented various places over the years in different parts of the country and we all agreed that this was the best we've ever stayed in. Bar a few minor niggles, we had a lovely and enjoyable weekend at Whimbrels and we would think that would be true for anyone staying there - you won't fail to be impressed.

A fantastic house for large groups of all ages. The facilities (swimming pool and games room) meant that the weather didn't detract from everyone's enjoyment. Beautiful views from the different balconies and sitting outside was a real joy. Can thoroughly recommend this property it is just designed so well.

We had a fantastic week at Whimbrells. The views were spectacular and the cleanliness of the property was outstanding. The beds were very comfortable and we appreciated all the en-suites attached to every bedroom. The outside space was amazing. All in all a wonderful week

Just spent a week at Whimbrels...loved it! A stunning property with beautiful views towards Combe Martin and quite literally right next door to Watermouth Castle. The house had everything we needed and the heated swimming pool was a big hit for all of us especially the kids. We were able to use it every day even when the weather was cloudy. All the bedrooms were lovely - there were no arguments over rooms as it was impossible to pick a bad one and all were en-suite. With plenty of room for everyone the house is perfect for the larger group or family. We found two lovely pubs nearby - the Sawmills on the main road to Combe Martin and Ye Olde Globe in Berrynarbor. Ilfracombe is just a couple of miles away and beautiful Woolacombe with it's stunning beach just a little further along the road. All easily accessible as is the Dinosaur Park just on the other side of Combe Martin. Great fish & chips also available in Combe. Everything was thought of, a pool table, table tennis, games, books, a bbq and an outdoor pizza oven. A truly lovely place to stay.

A lovely property which we returned to again this year, probably will not return next year as we have exhausted the local attractions. The weather was glorious and made good use of the swimming pool. A lack of glasses due to finding ones that were cracked or chipped on arrival and only 6 champagne glasses. The welcome pack was a dismal 1lt longlife milk which we left at the property.
