Description

Wander the woodlands, stroll along the stream, meander through the stunning meadows… Then stop, look and listen to the wildlife all around you. You’re back at the heart of nature in your own country retreat.

Pastoral paradise

When you arrive at your country retreat, it’s to discover that the English countryside has never looked so wonderful. Nor has so much nature ever been at your fingertips. 350 glorious acres of woodlands, meadows, hedgerows and a stream, all on your doorstep in the heart of Kent and ready for you to tour at your leisure. Take in the views of this pastoral paradise from every window and delight in the birdsong soundtrack that will play gently throughout your stay.

Stunningly restored, this 18th century barn was always going to be special. Set in complete peace and quiet in meadows and on the banks of a stream, country charm doesn’t get any better. Soaring oak beams rise up to your vaulted ceilings while oak floors come complemented with a touch of the Orient in plush Persian rugs. Bask in the warm natural light, flooding in at every corner and then admire the Milky Way in its full natural glory when the night draws in.

The open plan living on the ground floor offers one comfortable touch after another. You’ll nestle deeply into the sofas and plump cushions, relax into the sanug (with front-row meadow views) and dine finely at the rustic table. Snuggle up in front of the wood-burning stove (logs provided) when it’s chilly and enjoy creating a dish or two in the country kitchen complete with all mod cons and a Rayburn for that authentic rural touch.

When it’s time to retire, make your way up the custom-built oak staircase to two bedrooms, both fit for kings and styled in rustic elegance. The stunning views of nature accompany you here too – keep your bedroom window open just an inch at night to catch the trill of the nightingales.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Birdsong barn sleeps 4 in 2 spacious bedrooms, both with king size beds and generous en suites. Further sleeping accommodation is provided in a comfy sofa bed and there’s a downstairs wet room.

Reviews

We really enjoyed our stay at Birdsong Barn. Amazing walks and picturesque surroundings. The cottage was lovely and spacious and the owner was fantastic. We were sad to go but look forward to booking again!

Mr H,

A lovely barn conversation, very peaceful and must be idyllic in the Spring and Summer

Ms Y,

Our stay was not made special by the pretty barn, or the informative, welcoming host, or the gorgeous countryside on every walk from the front door, all of which were part of our holiday. It was made special by the entire magical experience that is Birdsong Barn from the moment we turned onto the track leading to this unique place.

Mrs H,

A lovely place to get away to. We went in late May when hundreds of orchids were flowering in the meadow adjacent. The host is very attentive when needed, nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely go back!

Mr F,

We had a lovely stay at bird song barn. The barn is gorgeous and very well equipped, with lovely views and plenty of space. Access to the barn can be challenging however as the access road is really a long narrow track which can become very muddy and water logged and difficult to navigate, particularly in a smaller car. However if guests are happy with this the barn itself once you are there is gorgeous.
