Description

If paradise exists, it’s here in Porthcurno! Close to mainland Britain's most south-westerly point, the village is home to a fine collection of impressive properties and an award-winning beach where the soft white sand is washed by a shimmering turquoise sea. High cliffs on both sides provide shelter for beachgoers, and at the top sits the iconic Minack Theatre, an absolute must-see. There’s history amid the natural beauty too: cables buried beneath the beach here spread across the seabed to connect Britain to the rest of the world – pioneering work that’s celebrated at the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum. Those with a sense of adventure can walk the South West Coast Path to Land’s End, which is less than 4 miles by car; just on the other side of this headland, Sennen Cove is a favourite among the surfing crowd.

This superb individual property in Porthcurno is a true masterpiece, offering an unrivalled combination of breathtaking views, elegant design, and refined comfort. With its four bedrooms, commanding location overlooking the valley and beach, and attention to detail in every aspect, this residence provides an exceptional living experience for those seeking a truly luxurious coastal retreat so you certainly won’t be disappointed! From arrival you’re greeted by wonderful vaulted ceilings and endless light, enter via the bespoke Cornish copper door into the welcoming entrance with beaming light throughout and cupboards to hang up your outerwear. Head through to the heart of this fabulous home with open-plan living at its finest. The kitchen area is well-equipped with everything you'll need for your memorable holiday, so plan your day with a morning coffee at the breakfast bar or enjoy lunch and evening meals at the dining table whilst listening to music in the background. Next to the kitchen area, you’ll find the utility room for all your everyday needs. Laze on your choice of sofas or cosy armchairs and watch your favourite films on the Smart TV, if you can take your eyes away from the panoramic views! Open up the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and listen to the peaceful surroundings, further extending this incredible living space. From here, you’ll find a calming super-king-size suite with vaulted ceilings, superb views from the comfort of your bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a stylish en-suite shower room, and doors opening up onto a covered terrace to relax and gaze out to sea whatever the weather. There are also two stylish twin bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, Juliette balcony with yet more views to Porthcurno beach and the ocean beyond. From the hallway is a family bathroom with a free-standing oval bathtub, perfect for a long soak after a day rambling the coastal path. Head downstairs to a self-contained suite with a kitchenette, shower room and super-king-size bedroom with window seating and far-reaching views across the cove.

Head outside from the living space onto a superb terrace which provides an ideal setting for Al fresco dining, entertaining or simply basking in the stunning views and soothing sounds of the nearby ocean. Whether relaxing in the summer sunshine or under the star-lit sky in this area of outstanding natural beauty, this truly is a wonderful escape to watch time stand still. From the terrace is a large gravelled area, bordered by mature shrubs and trees giving privacy and extending the outdoor space.

Reviews

Fantastic, really well equipped, beds are so comfortable, no complaints

Mr R,

Beautiful and well appointed cottage above Porthcurno beach and close to the Minack theatre. Amazing views, stunning location, beach just a short 5 minute walk down the hill. Good ratio of bathroom's to bedrooms which suited us as a group of friends walking the costal path. Would highly recommend this place.

Mrs H,

An exceptional property in beautiful surroundings, loved the views. So many walks, to the beach, Minack. We all enjoyed staying in Bracken Bank, so comfortable, the owner has obviously given a lot of thought into design, furnishings making the house welcoming, in fact best property we’ve stayed in over last five years. We enjoyed Sunday lunch in Sennen. Visit of “Sausage” the pheasant on the patio was good and we experienced fantastic sunrise across the bay.

Mrs M,

Fantastic property and location

Mr B,

Such an amazing property would recommend to anyone! The attention to detail in the build as well as all the equipment- it really is a special place! Book it as soon as you can!!!!

Ms N,

Fantastic location and amazing views. It was also lovely to be able to park cars without any stress.

Mr C,

Bracken Bank is a fantastic home with stunning views. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back in the future. The house is very well equipped, everything you may need has been considered. We had a home delivery from Sainsburys and we ordered our Gousto for a few meals during our stay. Cooking in the kitchen overlooking Porthcurno beach was a pleasure. There is a large American Style Fridge freezer and also two under counter fridges. The stairs lead down to a large bedroom, shower room and kitchenette. A great base for exploring Cornwall.

Mrs S,

A beautiful home in a stunning location. Situated in a quiet, elevated spot within easy reach of the lovely local beach and a good base to explore the area. We had a fabulous week’s stay.

Mrs S,

Stunning views from the cottage. Every rooms are well equipted. The utillties in the kitchen area are superb and the living room area are good for relaxing.

Dr R,

We had an amazing stay, plenty of room for 7 adults comfortably, the views were outstanding and we got very lucky with the weather which completely made our trip! Being only a short walk away from the beach albeit up a hill and just minutes away from the Minack theatre it was the perfect spot, we often felt like we didn't even need to leave the house as it was so beautiful just sat watching over the bay, and watching the birds of prey soaring through the sky. The drive way offered ample parking we came in 2 cars and a van and there was more than enough space for all vehicles. We would definitely recommend this place and if were in the area again would love to return! Do be aware however that gardeners did turn up unannounced we had a shock one morning to wake up to a car on the drive and people in the garden!

Miss S,

This house is amazing with a breathtaking view!! We couldn’t stop staring out! Was lovely just the two of us sat outside with a glass of wine, watching the view. The sea is so blue! The sofa and beds were very comfortable. So much room! We struggled to work out the hob, but eventually sussed it! Enjoyed some home cooking. The only moan we have is the terrible situation of the WiFi going down the day after we arrived, and it still being down on the day we checked out. Almost a whole week of no internet, very poor phone signal and no tv. The owner and management team were in contact with BT/Sky, but it was very frustrating for us. Trying to run our business and keep in touch daily with my mum, who has Leukaemia, it was pretty stressful!! Nobody seemed to really know why it went down, or when it would be fixed. To pay this much money for a holiday rental you expect good WiFi. The owner offered us £100 as compensation. We accepted and just put it down to one of those things. Will definitely come again! This house is very special and we had such a wonderful time. Thank you Bracken Bank. The Abbott family. Suffolk.

Mr A,

Bracken Bank was shared between 6 friends for a week in April 2024. We were very lucky with the weather as it was really sunny every day! Apart from that, Bracken Bank is a stunning holiday home and although we had seen the photos, couldn't quite believe just how beautiful it is in real life. The accommodation is an extremely high standard, everything has been thought of. The view is amazing, and it was lovely to be so close to such a beautiful beach as Porthcurno. The location for us was also ideal, with the coast path and many other lovely beaches and coves in such easy access. Really appreciated the daffodils and cream tea on arrival. All in all, a perfect holiday in a perfect house, thank you.

Mrs P,

Bracken Bank is an absolutely stunning property and the views cannot be beaten. The weather was not the best when we were there, so we can only imagine how lovely it would be to sit out on the Terrace on a nice sunny day. The property has everything you could need and is well positioned for days out, we visit Sennen, Lands End & Falmouth due our visit. We cannot rate Bracken Bank highly enough and would love to return one day.

Mrs R,

Wonderful property with amazing views of Porthcurno beach! We holidayed with 86 year old parents who had mobility issues. The entrance into the property was perfect with only one step up. We felt very lucky to have found Bracken Bank as it was absolutely perfect for us. Our parents had not had a beach holiday in many years and they felt they were on a beach holiday. Despite Storm Kathleen, we had days where we were able to sit out on the decking with very comfortable chairs with padded seat cushions enjoying the gorgeous view. I had searched for restaurants with a sea view before we departed on our holiday. There is no need as the best view is at the property where we enjoyed breakfast, lunch and evening meals! Bracken Bank is very well equipped. The towels were large, super soft bath sheets, the beds were very comfortable with plump pillows, the kitchen had more than everything you could possibly need and it was refreshing to see there were plenty of glasses, plates, mugs and cutlery for 8 people with extras too. Having a bathroom / en-suite for each couple was very much appreciated. Bracken Bank is well positioned for coastal walks and lots of attractions were within a few minutes drive. We hope to be able to return in future.

Mrs W,

This is a fabulous property - super clean and great facilities, and we will definitely be back.
