Offering sea views along the Heritage Coast and across to Robin Hood’s Bay, it sits in a truly blessed position. Pop into the Ravenscar Visitor Centre (1.5 miles), where you’ll find all the information you need about the local area. Follow the self-guided trail around the village that tells the tale of ‘The Town that Never Was’, or head down to the rocky beach (1.5 miles) to see the resident seals. Alternatively, hop on your bike and discover the Cinder Track cycle route, which runs from the village all the way to Scarborough (10.5 miles). Along the way, you’ll take in some amazing views of Robin Hood’s Bay, the secluded cove at Hayburn Wyke and plenty of rolling farmland. Or make your way into Whitby (14 miles) for the day and lose yourself in its winding cobbled streets, visit the ruins of Whitby Abbey, which are said to have inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and sample the local seafood. In Scarborough (11 miles), take a surf lesson, go dolphin-spotting on a boat trip, or take a stroll around the medieval castle.
